I've always found the word to be strange... one who hates women... i mean who really hates women... i guess in use today it means something a bit different...

How would you define misogynist in common usage?

And using the common usage definition of a misogynist would you classify yourself as one?

Hey, wait a minute....

Sorry, that was just my knuckle-dragging ape of an alter-ego speaking just then. He's back in his cage.

Despite the literal translation of the word, I would say the conventional usage today is a label used by hardcore feminists to describe people and/or views that disagree with their own.

Of course these hardcore feminsts can be labelled misandrists in their own right.

I believe that feminism is about equality, not man-hating, so sometimes my views would probably be considered misogynist.

Sorry ladies, but if Hootie Johnson doesn't want to let you join his "no girls allowed" club, you shouldn't try to force your way in. Start your own, better club.

I probably am. While in a purely physical sense I'm attracted to women and not men, in all other respects I sometimes wish I were gay. It surely comes from my childhood situation where I was raised mostly by my ditsy low-IQ blonde mother and her hateful spinster sister. The woman yelled at me for an hour straight and hit me when I had the nerve to fall off my bike and break my arm, and that's just one example of very, very many. Extremely dysfunctional.
