Are you a liberal Craigslist flagger?

I am, and I think more people should be too. Don't list your price in the price field? Flag. Put an item for trade in the "for sale" section? Flag. List your parts car in the "Cars and Trucks" section? Flag. Is the listing over 30 days old and no price drop? Flag.

I love Craiglist's new UI. It is now very easy to hit the flag button for posts I don't want to see. I don't just flag posts if they break the TOS, I also flag posts for being poorly filled out or for bad seller practices. Goodbye, don't show up in my search results anymore.

Where do you stand?

Sounds like another person with too much time on their hands thinking they need to police the world because the world did them wrong in some way.

I never flag anything on other sites. It pisses me off when people do it to me, so I'd be kinda a hypocrite if I did it to others. Youtube is by far the worse for that. You have a little jingle in your video that sounds like something that might be copyrighted? FLAG + account strike!

That's not my intent. I gave reasons why I flag posts, which you skipped over entirely. The idea is to remove the low quality ads which are rampant and get worse without community flagging.

I completely get you on the Youtube flagging! I myself don't flag Youtube videos.

I didn't skip over anything. It's not up to you to decide what is a quality ad, that is the point. Obvious illegal stuff and/or scams is one thing, but just flagging because you disagree with how they posted it is just, anal, like a grammar nazi. It's another example of someone sticking their nose in something they could just ignore. Especially your last example. It's not up to you to decide if someone drops their price no matter how long it has been there.

Watch yourself. I carry zero weight around here. ;)

:D

But yeah, if I still CL'd regularly, I would continue to do that. I tended to flag obvious scams, wrong forum, that sort of thing. Some For sale/trade stuff was pretty clearly scammy, but I spent more time in the housing finder areas and got used to flagging the typical CL scame posting (rent posted well below what was normal, and tended to generate the "Hello, I am traveling on mission in Ghana because I am a doctor, so please fill out this form with all of your information and send it to my friend who lives in Phoenix--apartment is somewhere in CA--and he will mail you keys!"

etc

You should see apartment rentals in NYC on CL. Brokers posting in "by-owner" section, people padding the bottoms of their listings with every freaking neighborhood so they show up in every search, mischaracterization of the neighborhood the apartment is in, fake ads galore (i.e. apartments in different areas with identical pictures)...

If enough people are irritated by a person's price and wording that post gets flagged down. There are some things that don't violate Craigslist's TOS but should be flagged. Putting $1 in the price on a single item, and then stating the actual price in the body, is something I flag. There's a reason why Craigslist has those fields. It makes the search by price function entirely useless.
