Are you a clean freak?

Ryan

Lifer
Every Saturday for the past 20 years of my life, my family spent about 6+ hours cleaning our house - like top to bottom. I never thought anything of it, but talking to a good friend, I've kinda gathered that's not the norm, and might be a little obsessive.

Still to this day I'm worried about eh appearance of my pad - I've got some people coming over in a few minutes - so I spent the past 3 hours cleaning my house. Is that odd? 😕

I had to have an older person at my house for a school thing recently, and he commented that my house was the neatest college house he's ever seen.

I generally clean the place before people show up.

I personally have no idea *what* the norm is on this issue... but judging by the number of houses I've either visited or lived in during my lifetime, I would be truly shocked if most people cleaned their houses (apartments, condos, townhomes, etc.) for 6 hours even once a month.

I'm not a clean freak (was for a while, tho)... but I'm not a (complete) slob, either. I let my living area (namely, my bedroom) fall apart... and then I clean it once a month or so. When I lived with my adopted parents, we'd "clean" the house once every couple of months... not that it needed it even that often.

Jerry: Y'know I hear that all the time.

Elaine: Hear what?

Jerry: That I'm gay. People think I'm gay.

Elaine: Yeah, you know people ask me that about you, too.

Jerry: Yeah, 'cuz I'm single, I'm thin and I'm neat.

Elaine: And you get along well with women.

George: I guess that leaves me in the clear...

I'd pay someone to clean for me, except there's stuff laying around I don't even want a cleaning lady to find....

Yeah, I'm pretty clean. I don't spend a few hours on Saturday or anything. I keep the place clean by just putting things away when I'm done with them and keeping the dishes put away. When the dishwasher is done running, I empty it and then fill it again so that the sink stays empty as much as possible. I vacuum on the weekends, though, and clean the bathroom every couple weeks.

my place is clean... as in... never dishes in the sink, floors vacuumed everyday, cat litter cleaned everyday, dust every day.... etc. but we have a lot of stuff so there is usually always stuff that needs to be put away. And my desk is a wreck.

For stuff like my personal possessions... hahaha!! I am a nut. My COACH handbags get cleaned and moisturised every 2 weeks whether I use them or not. All my handbags and shoes have their own sleeper bags and boxes that they live in. I pay hundreds per handbag and treat the accordingly. My Zen touch has its own leather COACH case. Stuff like that I am neurotic over...

My house is clean but lived in.

I clean once a month, I can stand messy but not dirty (ie. anything with an odor like food and worn clothes).

Are you serious? If you're a Seinfeld fan that's where one of the most memorable lines of all times come from.. "Not that there's anything wrong with that".

I wish I was.

I vacume once a week, wash dishes as soon as I used them (wish I could say the same for my roommate :frown😉, and clean the kitchen counters / bathroom as needed.

during the year that I've lived in this apartment, I've only washed the kitchen floor once (the morning after my new year's eve party), but once I'm recovered from my most recent illness, I'm meaning to start doing it once a month.

just got back home after spending a week in the hospital. still waiting for the infection in my leg to completely die down.

For my my apartment, The living room, i vacuum when i can borrow a vacuum cleaner from a friend, which is every 3 or 4 weeks. The bathroom gets fully cleaned about every 2 weeks. Dishs in the sink get handled with in a day or two if its like 4 or 5 small items. The kitchen gets fully cleaned the same weekend the bathroom gets cleaned. Might as well.

My computer desk is in the living room, i try to keep that tidy everyweek, but it's used often, so its a little messy, but not too terrible.

On the other hand, I am hardcore about my extorior computer cable managment. I am still working on redoing the cables to my tv/digital cable box/TiVo/Xbox. Just added the TiVo, so things need to be redone.

I'm a neat freak at heart, but my actions don't show it.
(He's a good person at heart, but he has trouble with his issues...)

EDIT: I hate my roommate. His vandalism of my post will remain unaltered to show his depravity and thoughtlessness.
