Not in my wallet - they just go wherever. There is more organization to my money mattress though. Most people will tell you that $50s are the softest but I like a nice 2" topper layer of $100s. Then a 3" layer of $50s and a 3" layer of $20s on the bottom for support

That said my wallet is more organized when I travel. Two days ago I had Hungarian Forints, Euros and dollars in my wallet, separated by type and arranged by denomination
This forum desperately needs a dislike button :^S

Small denominations go on top of the pile. They've had the most use, and are much softer. The base of the pile should be hundreds, cause they're nice and stiff, giving good support.

You, sir, are a shyster and should peddle your white van sales pitches elsewhere. Lots of reputable studies have been done that show that the new $100 bills compress much better than any of the other denominations. Anything below a $20 uses much cheaper construction that will just fall apart after a short time.

Hey! I'm providing value. Not everyone has the means to shop at a marble tiled palace. My white van sales pitches give the illusion of luxury for the less affluent.

Not only by denomination, but they have to face the same way and same orientation as well.

Same. In the US I rarely carry much cash, maybe $20-30 USD. In other countries where it's usually easier to deal with cash, I keep everything organized perfectly. It makes my wallet thinner and more tidy.

I just ram it all in there and sort of wiggle it around till it fits well.

This has got to be a pet peeve of mine. Probably somewhat from a past retail job or two I've had but I gotta have my bills faced and ordered. Anything less is anarchy.

I switched entirely to a thin wallet with two card slots on each side and a slightly larger one in the middle. 2 CCs, ATM card and license, and my RFID public transport card goes in the middle. Cash gets crammed totally unorganized in with the transport card ... I try not to keep any.

Lol cash. It's 2017

So? Cash is still king. Who knows when you're going to run into a place that happens to not accept CC or checks (I live in the relative country compared to the rest of the civilized world). And the way I look at it, each paycheck I transfer money into savings, pay bills, etc. What's left comes out in cash and if I can't afford what I want out of that, I must not need it.

I keep cash in my pocket and my wallet. The wallet stash is a reserve of larger bills, and I usually organize those to face the same way when I get them from an ATM, but since I don't look at them very often, they're less of an issue. But what goes in my pocket for "ready use", is totally organized: bills sorted by denomination, all facing the same way(s), bent corners straightened out, bills folded in half and "clipped" with the corners more rather than less aligned. But then, I'm also one of those people who straightens random artwork on random walls (when I can do so without being completely rude or risking a rent-a-cop rushing up to hassle me), straightens stacks of menus on counters in takeout joints, and aligns pamphlets next to cash registers in their little acrylic holders.:D It's not that I'm a neat freak in any conceivable way, but there is something about "non-symmetry in symmetrical contexts" that catches my eye immediately and irritates me... (Ftr, in a reasonably mild, non-compulsive way... ;))

So? Who knows when you're going to run into a place that happens to not accept CC
Not to mention that I have no desire to spend an hour poring over my checking account or CC activity a couple of times a month to make sure dozens of petty little $2-$20 transactions are all correct and in order... I mean, no sane, sensible person just assumes payment processors and banks always get it right, right?;)

If you put them face to face it's like they are kissing. Ewwwwwww!
And exactly what is it they're doing when they're jammed together front-to-back, hmm? :p

I can't handle it when my money isn't facing the same direction and organized by denomination. I got into the habit from my brother, who had worked at a bank and was OCD about it. After being told for years that if I can't keep my money organized then I fail at life, I gave in. Now I get grumpy every time I take money out of an ATM and have to fix it before I fold it into whatever cash I already have.

I don't carry cash unless I can reasonably expect to be needing it. There are ATMs everywhere and 99% of my transactions can be made by credit card, giving me cashback automatically deposited back into my bank account monthly. There is little purpose or advantage to carrying any currency outside of scenarios where paying by cc is impossible or disadvantageous. If I'm traveling and I'm not sure that I can use cc for everything, then I'll bring whatever cash I think I need + some extra just in case. If I'm traveling abroad then I'll get some local currency + at least two ways to obtain cash on an ongoing basis.

As for being OCD organising it in my wallet? Hell no. It is good to not have it in a horrible mess in there, but beyond that, meh. No value in spending any time on that.

There are ATM's everywhere but most will charge a fee. That is the big difference.

I prefer to do most of my transactions with a debit or credit card but even those who accept cards tend to have a minimum requirement before adding on a fee. These are usually food transactions. Whether a buck or two for some bottled water, 9 bucks for 3 slices of pizza or 5 bucks for a cafe latte. Plus gas stations purchases put a hold on your card - I don't like that for some reason and prefer to pay cash. Plus my barber only takes cash. Plus when you end out with a bunch of friends and some don't have Venmo, it helps splitting up the tab. That's why keeping 100-200 in cash on me makes sense.

LOL. Never really thought about it that way. When I have some cash in my wallet (rarely), I put largest bills in back and smaller bills in front.

The US money has the same size and color. In other countries, different denominations have different colors.

Someone has mentioned this to me before about credit cards, but how does that work and how do you set it up? I never heard of this till maybe like a month ago. I always figured cash back was just another word for cash advance till someone mentioned it to me. I have a feeling I've been missing out on a lot of money that I did not realize I was entitled to.

I will help you.

I use my 2% cash back (unlimited and on all categories) CC from Citi, ie. let say I spent about $10,000 USD for December so 2% of that would be about $200 cash back. I set up on Citi CC account that it would deposit the $200 to my main checking account automatically. It usually takes about 1-2 business day for the cash back to show up on my checking account, easy as pie. I made $727 and changes last month.

That's why I rarely use cash. Why waste "free" money if you use CC correctly (always pay the whole balance in full before the due date). I don't always use Citi 2% cb CC because I can get more on other categories such as 3X points on travel expenses and restaurants/coffee shops from Chase Sapphire Reserve or 3% cb on gas from BoA CC (but only up to $2.5K per quarter). Sometimes it can be a pain to keep up. First world problem indeed.

Cash advance is you take the cash out from the CC card. Not recommend because the CC will charge interest right away, no grace period as they would with purchasing.

I used to be cash organized...but now I rarely have anything other than a $20 bill in my pocket.
