Are you a baby at work? I am the only one

Thought there were at least SOME People my age, but I'm beat by a minimum of 6 years, maximum of about 34, median age difference of 13 (Edit, so most people who I work with at my level are in their 40's 50's, BIG age difference)

Ohhhh the jokes just don't stop do they? My secretary looked shocked but at least she didn't look pissed off that some kid got hired above her.

Thankfully I get along real well with everyone, I'm old at heart and they are young at heart so we meet in the middle and its all good.

Good until these baby jokes stop 😱

Or good until they are done hearing my old jokes 😉

just started working as a paralegal, still thinking about going back to school again at some point. Really want to be an auditor / researcher.

The guy girl ratio is something ridiculous, like 1:5

25 now and there are finally some people my age. I entered corporate at 19 (graduated college early) and I was definitely treated as the baby up until I was around 24. It was particularly bad when I was too young to drink. 🙂 The coworkers loved me on business trips though, since I was the automatic DD.

That explains why you feel so young!

I started this job when I was 23, and when I started, the closest person to me in age in my office was in their mid-40s. Now we have someone four years older than me in the office, but I'm still the youngest in my office, and probably the youngest in the entire school (excusing the students).

5 girls to every guy... sounds like a porno name.

how the hell did you graduate that early? Did you cram it all in one year of college, or did you have one of those rich people schools that let you use their classes as credits ?

My school didn't even offer that at ALL, (pub school), and I had to take every basic class where most people had at least one math class or something taken care of in high school.

Damn rural schools :disgust:

26 doesn't seem like a baby to me at all, especially when the median age is 34 as you said, but my industry is full of 20-somethings.

I'm 28 and my best friend is 46. Age stops being meaningful once you step outside of the school bubble.

actually, I think I f'ed the median age, it's probably in the 40's (EDIT)

I started working for my company when I was 18, I'm 20 and still the youngest 😉 I think prior to that the youngest was like 23ish - I'm a senior web dev pretty much.

UC Davis. I skipped most of the high school BS and attended community college during what would have been my high school years. 1 year high school math = 1 quarter college math. Finished all my high school stuff, started on college general ed and transferred to a UC right when I turned 18 with enough credits that I was already a junior. Just took classes related to my major for two years (graduated at the end of age 19).

All public, and your attitude that you have to be in a "rich people" or "rural" school to take control of your own education is a little limited.

[edit] Although, on second reading I may have misinterpreted your "rural schools" remark; sounds like you intended it to be applied to you. 🙂

Less than I used to be, I'm afraid. Revel in your youth, it will leave you. Carpe Diem, climb a mountain, swim the oceans, you cannot do it when you're old.

Indeed I did! I always have been and will be a slacker, so I can't blame my school system entirely 😀

24 here.

I will be the youngest engineer when I start on 03/02 for my group. Everyone there has at least 20+ years of experience in the industry (who had worked with Intel, IBM, etc...), so I feel like a 'baby' in that respect. Plus, most of the engineers there are at least 45. Some are already in their 60s.

Seriously, if they are referring to you as a baby at 26 you are doing something wrong.

Are you sure you aren't trying to live vicariously through the hot 21 yo Office Exec that's boning a different office hottie each friday?

Seriously again though...if some 30-40 something sat on my lap in my 20's and rambled off 'oh you are such a baby...if you were just a bit older...', she'd be a notch on my headboard that night.

Yet you are posting here....😕 You still living at home or something?

skipping HS BS? you do realize now the first 12....perhaps even the first 16 is mostly socialization rather than books right.....such a scholar and all.

"Rich people" tended to have maximized their school days though. "Rural" didn't 'cause dey gotz to farmz.

I think we've had this discussion before, so we probably shouldn't hijack the thread to have it again. If you really want to get back into it then I'm happy to respond in PM.
