Why only Mexico? There are more illegal chinese in NYC on welfare than there are working mexicans in the whole USA. Yet they dont get kicked out. Why? Because they are from communist china and the us turns a blind eye and targets a race that actually WORKS rather than kick out the millions od chinese on us welfare systems.

Kick them all out then.
I didn't know illegal chinese were a problem. I don't see them where I am (pretty close to NYC) but I see plenty of Mexican/hispanic.

Largely self inflicted. The stimulus has been too small and neutered due to filibusters, and now the Republicans want to cut it even more by taking money out for unemployment. Yes, GOP wants to cut job saving stimulus to pay unemployment, nothing is too ridiculous for that party.

Anytime someone says take the money we have left from xxxxxx they are lying. We don't have any money left. There is no stimulus, bailout, loose change, reserves, or petty cash left. It is like taking out a loan to buy a car then selling the car to pay back the loan, the car is now worth less than the loan amount so now I don't have the car and I still owe the bank.

My particular job wasn't offshored. It was eliminated, along with the rest of my department at this university, when budget cuts occurred.

Out of curiosity, were you the IT Dept for an academic department? Or are they just getting rid of the IT dept?

I worked for development (fund-raising). I maintained and built their server architecture, as well as the donor and relationship database they own. I also did de-facto IT support for the department, although the university has its own IT department, who I call in if I am ever stumped.

The most important single thing to understand about the Republican policies this year is that they think that their only and best chance to get power is to put the country in as much pain as possible. They're pretty much right politically - morally is another issue. Of course, they want to do this without admitting it, so they'll say any outrageous bad logic about why they filibuster this or that. But it's important to understand that they want people in pain, because people in pain vote out the incumbents.

Do you live in a bubble? Do you ever take in anyone's viewpoint that is not 100% in agreement with your personal views? Are you mentally incapable of accepting that there are alternative ways to live life than your own?

I mean, seriously, you put so much effort in to hating so much, it really is quite fascinating!

It's like, you are paranoid of business so much, you almost think that unless you oppose wealth with every ounce of your existence, you will become a slave to it. We here at AT P&N should gather up our resources and get you on one of those reality shows on A&E, like the new one Obsessed or something, you really are interesting to listen to ;) These fears you have are irrational.

Why is IT always the first area institutions look to cut when times are tough?

Imagine if every manager walked out of the company you work for right now. Things could continue for months before there were problems.

Imagine if every IT person walked out. The company would be done within a week.

Obama telegraphed from the beginning he was more interested in economic justice (taking away from the rich people) even if it meant hurting the country.
Absolutely right.

So, we are presented with a choice. Roll over, capitulate and let progressives put their hands in our pockets, hoping they'll find enough, or fight back and make sure progressives don't gain enough power to put a bullet in us. They'll look you in the eye and tell you otherwise, but there is no compromise within their vision of government. Collectivism and individualism cannot coexist.

It is what Freud called a "repetition compulsion." It happens over and over again, because these people don't live in reality. That's why they are dangerous. They can never figure out what went wrong last time, so they keep trying it again. They live in egomaniacal fantasies, and real people keep getting in their way.
Make no mistake about it, Obama and his minions have a vision for this country that is totally out of sync with the mainstream. The November elections are going to tell the tale. Our very future hangs on November 2nd. Speaking for myself, that day will determine my course of action.

Yes indeed.

Keeping the unemployment bennies going has the best ROI, we have to keep consumer spending up.

You can use any straight branch that is a decent wood, even pine will work. Split the end and insert feathers (could use other things like paper/plastic if you really wanted to ), then tie the end with some sort of string. I like fishing line, wraps tight and doesn't effect the flight much from air resistance. For tips you could sharpen wood but easier is to just buy tips or reuse the ones you have. Worst case you can also buy molds that allow you to pour your own tips from just about any metal you can melt in a regular fire , lead, copper, etc.

I'll be right next to this guy when the shit hits the fan.

Stupid institutions cut IT. Then they realize that they should have cut elsewhere and need to hire again. Who will manage their email server, file server, print server, db, etc? They will strain the few that stay and then something will happen (they leave, disaster because of short-staffing, who knows) and they will learn their lesson--except it will be too late.

So you want to raise taxes to fund unemployment... Some people have been on unemployment for 99 weeks. How long should we continue to support them?
