Are we headed toward a class war? Have we finally as a nation come to understand that the politicians presented as choices do not represent our values but rather the values of the highest bidder?

Depends on what you mean by class war. In case you haven't noticed, the rich have been (successfully) waging class warfare for the last three decades. That's all legislative and regulatory though.

If you mean violence, no way. The good news is that people in America are finally waking up to just how badly the system has been rigged.

We have been in a class war for a while now. The poor are winning. The poor have the awesome strategy of rapidly repopulating the numbers game in their favor while getting the people that hate them to pay for it all. What a brilliant strategy.

Odd how you consider the poor to be winning the class war when their share of national wealth and income they own has been steadily decreasing.

Where do people get this stuff?

When 1 poor person has 5 kids they can't afford to raise, would you expect their share of national wealth to increase?

Where do you get this stuff?

This is not the first or even the second or third time US politics have been corrupted by the wealthy and the population exploited. If you want to call it "class war" then its a war that has been fought off and on for 200 years. Anyone who thinks morality alone is enough to keep a capitalistic society from becoming a victim of episodic corruption needs to pull their head out of the toilet.

Not only has the rich's share of wealth increased, their share of income has increased as well.... which would have nothing to do with how many kids anyone has.

You're terrible at this. You're another one of my favorites on the 'aggressively dumb' list.

It's always been that way. Class warfare. The arrogance of the Sophomores are getting them in trouble with the Juniors and Seniors.

The wing-nut propaganda machine is truly amazing, isn't it? They've refined the science of duping people into acting against their own best interests beyond even Goebbels' dreams.

This is pretty naive.

The working class and poor have no representation in modern government.

Look at who provides the 100+ lobbyists per Rep in our government. Big industry, the same ones who own the media.

Here's a clue, the family on food stamps are not taking your congressman out to a fancy dinner as we speak doing coke lines the size of mountains on stripper boobies.

That's where our budget goes when these folks have also gamed the system to pay almost no or no taxes, the corporations have had it rigged like this for ages now since the big deregulation-fest.

Use some common sense.

Why do you think corporate media/talk radio and right wing corporate apologists always harp on about deregulation? Because they are fleecing the hell out the system. Of course the corporation lie and obtusificate and divide the working class in the USA in the media, it is their best interests and needed to continue their profit motive.

Well, it's not really war until somebody fights back. So far, it's just been successful exploitation combined with emotional distraction & delusion.

Every Rightie I know thinks they'll be rich some day, even those who are 60+ and so deep in debt they'll never retire... Even when they're underwater on the house, their pensions looted, their 401K's annihilated, their grown children buried under college debt, they still think rich people are better than they are, still worship the high priests at the altar of greed, even when they're the human sacrifice.

But our rich are the richest, so it's all good as far as Righties are concerned....

Damn it, all objective evidence not withstanding, I must insist that the poor are winning.

It is so because I will it to be so.

Isn't it great to at least live in a country where you are one idea, one invention, one break, and little luck away from being rich? Don't complain because you lack creativity and ideas. If you lived in Europe you'd have basically no chance to become rich unless you already were part of the upper classes of society. You would have better safety nets though.

So what do you prefer? Some safety nets, but sky's the limit here in the U.S., or lots of safety nets, but pretty much certain you are going to be 'just average' your whole life in Europe... ?

I'll take the U.S. any day of the week and twice on Sunday, thank you. (And btw, I'm married to a European... and her parents moved here too and are dual citizens).

Did you know that upward economic mobility is actually higher in Europe than it is in the United States? It's easier to become wealthy from modest beginnings there than it is here.

The "profit motive" and the resulting class wars throughout human civilization is but a evolutionary offshoot, baggage from our animal pasts.

Men as a homo-sapiens species can do better, we are no longer apes needing to one up each other in this modern technological world of plenty.

Sure, it is idealistic, but we all know it is true. We fuck each other over because we have not gotten the courage/know how to evolve beyond.

But then walking on hind legs was probably a bitch for awhile too.

Kinda amazes me to see Republicans not walking on all fours sometimes.

No tax cuts for the rich for you, but care for a banana?

Not exactly

It only worked while the numbers affected were relatively low.

Now that the majority of the population is affected and the number growing daily that propaganda machine is losing.

Headed? We are at class war Stalingrad, when the people against whom class war has been waged for 30 plus years are starting to push back.

"The poor" seem to be doing a pretty damn good job at obtaining entitlements through the elected officials.

People differ in opinion on whether being a slave at the government plantation is in their best interests.

What's sad is the 1% have brainwashed a good deal of conservatives into hating their brothers that they should be joining, whilst fucking them in the ass under the delusion that someday they might be rich too.

Truly sad how conservatism continues to hold this country back. They are an embarrassment to this nation.
