Yes, its called Socket 939, and the motherboards along with the cpus (3700+) that support this socket will be given birth sometime on March 29th, 2004 the Inquirer noted.

I believe they're going to leave dual-channel support to their higher-end chips, like the FX and the Opteron. As you can see from AMD's own timeline, they're going to keep using different manufacturing processes for the lower-end Athlon64's.
