Catching bin Laden isn't really a big deal; he's hanging around in Pakistan. All that has to be done is to squeeze the g**ads of Musharaff (the Pakistani military dictator) hard enough and he will cough up bin Laden.

It is said that every country has an army but only the Pakistani army has a country. An ant cannot breathe there without the army's knowledge so it's a huge stretch of the imagination to think that they don't know where bin Laden is. The Pakistani military is basically playing coy with the U.S. in the hopes of wringing more goodies like the F-16s they have been promised recently.

Either read the riot act to Pakistan or ask Musharaff the price for bin Laden's head and pay it and he will be brought to book.

That's very insightful and all but don't you think it rather odd that Bush Co. would let OBL linger around making them look bad if they had a choice in the matter?

He served his purpose of getting them re-elected..

I am sure they will find more use for him soon enough

They have nothng to fear from him... they cannot get elected to another term

How completely inaccurate. While the intelligence branch of the Pakistani army is very, very good - they don't know everything. That's sort of hard to do in a country of ~160 million people, much of it in non-urban settlements. Considering bin Laden is not exactly a big fan of President Musharaff's, I sort of doubt he's letting the man have the run of Pakistan on his watch on purpose.

I thought it was "smoke 'em out" or "Dead or alive" or "We've got him on the run"

Smoke and mirrors. And how much has cheneyburton profited since this little skirmish has taken place? Hmmm? Why give the boys and girls kevlar when you can build a taco bell.
This whole dungpile of an administration can feed on the boil on a rat's ass.

Bush used bin Laden as an excuse to go to war, and once he had the troops over there he diverted his total attention to Saddam. His stupidity and arrogance allowed bin Laden to simply get away. If he is caught it will be like Eric Rudolph, simply by chance.

Speaking of government successes at getting their man, how about the guy that sent the Anthrax? Another failure of our federal government to get their man, total incompetence.

Oh but wait, a government agency recently protected San Francisco from US Troops, so there is hope...not

I wouldn't it incompetence. Some of these tasks seem very hard to me (i.e. solving the Anthrax case). It's very hard to catch one man hiding in an area of the world where many are sympathetic towards him.

Since we haven't found a cure for cancer yet, are our doctors and scientists also incompetent? It's hard for me to call someone incompetent if they can't do something that I can't do either.

The Propagandist isn't concerned about him anymore. He's been marginalized. Doesn't matter he's responsible for ~2,900 death. Nope...doesn't matter at all.

Isn't the Bush and Bin Laden family in business together, and that's why eventhough all airplanes were grounded after the 9/11 attack,

Bush allowed all Bin Laden family members residing in the US to fly out of the US to protect them.

Gotta leave something for baby brother Jeb to do when it's his turn in the white house.

OBL is the best propaganda tool ever. Even the neocons in the '90s never anticipated something like 9-11. Now that they have their "catalysing event" and the perfect propaganda tool why would you actively try to destroy this tool? OBL will be around for a very very long time, unless his kidneys bum out.

Musharraf is not a fan of Osama Bin Laden? How so? Just like he is not a [public] fan anymore of the Taliban - which was founded in Pakistan?

Oh yeah, I guess when you have a superpower on your a55 you can't very well make it public who you to like. Really more of an opportunist than anything.

The fact is, we waited over 3 weeks to really start looking for where he was, in the Tora Bora area. 3 weeks is a long time, even by mule standards.

There is ABSOLUTELY no way we can trust Musharraf or the Pakistani leadership. AQ Khan has proven links with Islamist extremist organizations. He was put under 'house' arrest in his mansion in Pakistan. HOUSE ARREST? Question: Why has he not been tried? Answer: Political sensitivities and the possible expose of other things sour in Pakistan. He is Musharrafs man, and Musharraf himself has strong ties with the ISI, or Pakistan intelligence as you rate very highly. The ISI has known ties with Islamic terrorist organizations on the U.S. black list, including Jaish E Mohammed and Laskhar Toiba.

In all probability, Osama is no longer in Pakistan, but was at some point in time. Perhaps it was too politically sensitive to catch him, or perhaps we need him around. Regarding the posters who say it is hard work, well, thats hard work that we should have focused on more.

We are the strongest nation in the world, with tremendous intelligence and technology at our disposal. Of course we can find him, if we really wanted to. The question is why do we not want to? The mere fact that we can but don't is proof that politics, esp. under this leadership is really dirty business.

our intellegence is very scattered, credible intellegence relies on good foreign relations, something else bush has failed miserably at trying to act like yosemite sam across the world.

Bush was just kidding when he said we'd bring OBL to justice. C'mon people, it's not like he went to Yugoslavia illegally and played a game of chess! Justice is overrated, particulary when it gets in the way of securing future oil contracts.

It's hard to say if he'll ever be caught, but I'm pretty sure we already blew our best chance.
