Within the first 30 days of the events that effectively started both I and II, Austria-Hungary vs Serbia and Germany vs Poland, we had a large number of countries declare war, make or reinforce alliances and/or invade each other. Certainly by the ends of both 1914 and 1939 many of the world's powers and empires were in some kind of active combat with each other. We just do not have that situation now. Russia has invaded Ukraine, and many of the world's powers are actively supporting Ukraine and economically isolating Russia, but the only countries engaged in actual combat are Russia and Ukraine. India and Pakistan just kicked off and is limited in scope at this time, remains to be seen where that leads. China is not at war/in combat with anyone.

We'll only know after the event. Historians decide where to draw the starting line, retrospectively. I wouldn't say now that it's already started, but future historians might disagree - it all depends what happens in the near future.

In 1939 China and Japan had been fighting for two years already. The US didn't join in till 1941.

(Also, you forgot North Koreans are also involved in that 'actual combat')

I completely agree with you that historians will look back and perhaps identify some event which triggered WWIII that has perhaps already passed us by in the present. Like with WWI, the murder of Archduke Franz Ferdinand set off a series of events that lead to WWI, though it didn't necessarily have to turn out that way. So people may say that was the beginning of WWI, or they may say it didn't start until Serbia and Austria-Hungary declared war or began armed conflict. At this time, I just don't see any solid evidence that we are currently in WWIII.

Fair point about China and Japan. I look at North Korea having soldiers fighting for Russia as more of a mercenary-for-hire action than the country of North Korea engaged in war with Ukraine, though that's a bit subjective.

I wish lying were volitional. As I see it I lie every timeI imagine I know something. How can you see and know. Every time you know something you are engaged in internal dialog using thought. Thought requires language and language is always of the past, full of programmed emotional content. To see is to be here now. What I said isn't seeing, it's words about seeing.

When I said I heard Trump is ending all war, I think that opinion started with him. I heard also his tariffs did a real number on China. :)
Speaking or writing require language, THOUGHT DOES NOT REQUIRE LANGUAGE.
