Thanks to the dumb ass American consumer, people that want a V8, full framed, RWD vehicle have VERY few choices. What some morons classify as an "SUV" could be considered a very sensible, easy and cheap to repair, very safe family carrier. I'd classify their drivers as intelligent, safety conscious consumers getting the most bang for their auto buck. But that also depends whether what they're driving is a wannabe truck or the real thing!

btw, the X5 is an sAv, not an sUv. the majority of SUV owners do not have 10 children, live in the woods or go camping, hiking, etc. use LA as an example. why would someone want a hugeass expedition if they can have the X5? why do they need an SUV anyway? 99% of the idiots who almost almost hit me are SUV drivers. SUVs are HUGE and give drivers a false sense of security. they're unsafe for OTHER drivers. the idiots never signal, look over their shoulder or anything. they just swerve into the lane assuming that others will watch out for them. i know this firsthand.

It's a damn V8, RWD, Full Framed, 4Dr and costs a HELL OF A LOT LESS THAN $65,000.00 for crying out loud! What other vehicle with those specs can be purchased anymore? Give me a list and tell me which ones you consider to be SUVs, SAVs or whatever the F you have this hang up about!

Edit: I still can't figure out how this SUV moniker came about, but it's as lame as hell. The Excursion, Expedition and Suburbans are friggen trucks in every way and "sport" in no way I can imagine! Here's what the insurance companies have to say about their safety issue:

Seems fair enough to me. You're at fault, you pay, as it should be. I'll put my family in one of these where safety is concerned, thank you. What priorities you have beyond safety is your business, but I can't imagine anything being more important than your family!

Obviously, I am an adrenaline junkie. Having said that I have a family and I need a vehicle with room. Now any SUV handles like a dog because it's too heavy, and the center of gravity is too high. That's physics for you and it doesn't matter if its Isuzu or BMW. They can never handle like a car. Now the Passat wagon I have handles like a dream. Big enough for my needs, and I can whup a lot of cars in the twisties. And it "feels right" Drivers know what I mean. An 80 k Range Rover will never match my car for handling.

I own a ZX3, Its always fun to be able to load a 19inch monitor box into my car and watch a Sentra or Maxima user try and get an unpacked monitor into their backseat.

2002 Passat Wagon GLS 1.8T
1991 Volvo 740 Turbo Wagon

Wagons rule (especially European ones). I can fit my mountain bike in the back of my 740 or a whole ton of computer junk for work. It's almost like having a pickup truck that fits 5 if you need it to. To me, SUV's are the more "fashionable" cars out today. My sister in law has an loaded exploder and my father in law has a Yukon XL. They're nice, but I'll take a good wagon any day.
