Better sell those crypto gpu farms soon. FTX crypto collapse today.

And this winter will be cold.... at least a mining PC generating heat kept you warn while paying for the heat + electricity.
Some coins are almost break-even minable, now.Is it just me or has used AMD GPU prices on Ebay gone up in the last week or two? I got curious to see what used RX 6800s were selling for today (to compare against what I paid), and they're easily 10% higher than at the end of Oct.
Investor or fanboy?I hope GPU prices keep going up, especially with the based 4080 launch. That would allow AMD too to increase prices and margins, even if less than Nvidia, when products are mostly competitive.

The problem with mining for speculation is a person could just buy the coin in question cheaper then the cost of electricity.Big losses on everything even if I adjust it to $0.05/KWh electricity, which would be nearly impossible to get.
Sure it does. The problem with mining for speculation is a person could just buy the coin in question cheaper then the cost of electricity.
It makes no sense at all to mine any coin at a negative profit.
That hook has really sunk deep.Sure it does.
Lack of KYC.
No exchange fees.
And with exchanges failing left and right, it does seem prudent to avoid them altogether if possible.
N.A. needs heat this winter. Mining can provide, with the resulting CC a bonus.
Edit: Forgot a big one, coins at the spec-mine stage, may not even be on exchanges yet to buy or sell.
And if you want privacy coins without a paper trail, mining them yourself is the vest way to obtain them.
What can I say. I do it as a hobby, not a business. That hook has really sunk deep.![]()

Yeah... I guess so.So it's like buying a bunch of baseball cards, but digital and without the baseball stuff.
I would disagree. Wampum Beads have innate value. They are quite decorative for one thing. They have considerable cultural significance. They were a widely accepted form of currency that was easy to use, transport, had very low exchange fees, and kept a relatively stable value from day to day.I'd compare it to carving your own Wampum Beads, and then selling them for USD.
Bitcoin will fall to 12K within a week, and eventually below 10K. Mining is dead and GPU prices are about to have a bigger collapse.
I was expecting that, but Nvidia put a stop to it by pricing their new cards through the roof. I fully expected it to backfire on them, but my face went full Pikachu when gamers just gobbled up a ton of $1800+ 4090s. Gamers want more expensive GPUs, so that's exactly what they are getting. They aren't getting cheaper.
