Talking used market.Where can you get a new 5700XT for $200? Last I checked, the 6600 XT was about 10% faster.
Here's the 6600XT for $300 (5700XT I found were around $340)
Are you a human?

Yeah it makes no other sense when a news item like this hits yet the prices are still up in the air. Either supply is very low, or the supply goes to somewhere else.
AMD might have switched a lot of chip production to Ryzen AM5, which would explain why they lowered Ryzen prices so quickly, as their sales plans must have been messed up quite a bit by the very poor reception of AM5.
I remember a bunch of recent forum theory crafting that GPU makers were locked into large amount of wafer production so we would soon be flooded with cheap GPUs.
IMO, no one here really has any clue about the economics of leading edge silicon production. What they do have is an excess of wishful thinking.
The RDNA2 prices are the same here in Denmark as prior to the RDNA3 launch, but maybe it is just the usual price delay.RDNA2 prices dropped before the RDNA3 launch because retailers feared that the massively better performance of RDNA3 would drop the value of RDNA2 cards. Now they know that all the waiting gamers are gonna flock to RDNA2 to get their gaming fix for better value so they raised the prices to cash in on the sudden demand, probably forcing a lot of people to wait even more or just eat the expense of getting RDNA3.

It forced me to drop a tier. I grabbed a 6800 at $530. I might grab a 7800XT if it's $700 or less, otherwise I'm done. I'll be buying used in the future (current gen or later).RDNA2 prices dropped before the RDNA3 launch because retailers feared that the massively better performance of RDNA3 would drop the value of RDNA2 cards. I saw the ASUS RX 6800 TUF available for almost $500 from Amazon UK for a few days before the RDNA3 launch. I almost never see an ASUS card competitively priced here in UAE. It's like ASUS uses pure gold or something. The RDNA2 prices are the same here in Denmark as prior to the RDNA3 launch, but maybe it is just the usual price delay.
Don't draw your conclusions just yet. Sales have plummeted in the last two quarters and believe it or not, consumers are driving a hard bargain. We need to see Q4 sales data before we speculate on where the market is heading. This is truly a new era for capitalism. Those on the inside have invented revolutionary techniques for increasing profit.
The Power Color Fighter model is $500 here in the U.S. Buying it from Amazon I'd get almost all of the tax money back. Plus it comes with 2 games. I have Callisto Protocol on my back log as I am playing Days Gone right now. Might keep it for my Halloween spooky season play list. The free zombie game will be out by then too.You can get an ASRock 6800 ~$540 before sales tax, so $680 after![]()
Asrock had some models around that price ($540-$560) around Black Friday. The 6800 will go in my 10th gen Intel system (currently 1070 with 650W PSU).Might have waited too long. There were new 6800 XT's in that price range not too long ago.
But part of the fun is getting a good deal/good value for your money.Historically, U.S. prices are best in January. There are factors like tariffs that could nerf it this time around. We'll see.
It is obvious, we were all wrong about the flood of cheap mining cards and their effect on the new market. So it will come down to opportunity cost. Myself, I am not wasting my limited number of heart beats on waiting to save a couple of $100. All because of programmed behavior DIYers have adopted over the last couple of decades. I paid $500 for a 2070 Super December 2019 and never regretted it. I paid that amount for a RX 6800 3 yrs later, and I already know I won't ever regret it.
It's a cheap hobby. Even a $1000 isn't much compared to just about any other adult hobby. But the rules of acquisition must be followed, right people?![]()
Here in Denmark the state keeps its taxes, unless your name is Sanjay Shar....The Power Color Fighter model is $500 here in the U.S. Buying it from Amazon I'd get almost all of the tax money back.
