Alright, so just my perspective but used prices should be:

$500 6900xt
$450 6800xt
$375 6800
$275 6700xt
$200 6600xt
$150 6600
$100 6500
$50 6400

I personally managed to snag my 6800xt for $450 all in (taxes and shipping) but this was between the 4xxx/7xxx launch so people weren't sure what was happening with prices.

Find "make an offer" deals on eBay and work those for all they're worth. Always sort by ending soonest, put in the highest bid you're willing to pay and then walk away, don't get into bidding wars.

It took me 2-3 months and one busted card (that I returned and got all my money back, love eBay) before I got my current card for the right price.

LIkely low supply but still high demand. There was only 2-3 cards that I saw hitting $515-550 last month at NE. I mean at $700 you might as well buy a 7900XT or find a 6950XT somewhere at the same price.

AMD might have switched a lot of chip production to Ryzen AM5, which would explain why they lowered Ryzen prices so quickly, as their sales plans must have been messed up quite a bit by the very poor reception of AM5.

The latest news about TSMC suggests that 2023 will see plenty of production capacity for chips, so I foresee an increasing need by the industry to actually provide good value so customers who are on the fence will buy their stuff. It might take a little while, though, as backlog demand gets satisfied first (like PS5's) and the industry needs to adjust their mindset and adjust without making losses. So it might take until the 2nd half of 2023.

Yeah it makes no other sense when a news item like this hits yet the prices are still up in the air. Either supply is very low, or the supply goes to somewhere else.

I remember a bunch of recent forum theory crafting that GPU makers were locked into large amount of wafer production so we would soon be flooded with cheap GPUs.

IMO, no one here really has any clue about the economics of leading edge silicon production. What they do have is an excess of wishful thinking.

That wouldn't make any sense for RDNA2 products. Unless they stopped taking more wafers for RDNA2 production ~3 months ago.

Even manufacturing on a mature node has a lead time to it. If you agree to take wafers you'll generally pay a penalty for refusing them later, no? It's not as restrictive as the WSA AMD had/has with GF, but still. They can't turn on a dime.

RDNA2 prices dropped before the RDNA3 launch because retailers feared that the massively better performance of RDNA3 would drop the value of RDNA2 cards. Now they know that all the waiting gamers are gonna flock to RDNA2 to get their gaming fix for better value so they raised the prices to cash in on the sudden demand, probably forcing a lot of people to wait even more or just eat the expense of getting RDNA3.

If AMD wants to sell products they should launch N32 at a competitive price and 3D cache zen4. Personally I've waited since the launch of the 3080, to upgrade to the next good price/performance product. And as long as they keep releasing overpriced products, I'll just keep waiting...

The RDNA2 prices are the same here in Denmark as prior to the RDNA3 launch, but maybe it is just the usual price delay.

More like the availability of the 7900XTX is so low and the 7900XT price is so high for what it does, that it has failed to move the market in a positive (for consumers) direction.

It forced me to drop a tier. I grabbed a 6800 at $530. I might grab a 7800XT if it's $700 or less, otherwise I'm done. I'll be buying used in the future (current gen or later).

It is fun that the 7900 price:_performance is so mediocre that, if anything, it has caused AMD to increase the pricing on their previous generation.
This is truly a new era for capitalism. Those on the inside have invented revolutionary techniques for increasing profit.

Might have waited too long. There were new 6800 XT's in that price range not too long ago.

I saw the ASUS RX 6800 TUF available for almost $500 from Amazon UK for a few days before the RDNA3 launch. I almost never see an ASUS card competitively priced here in UAE. It's like ASUS uses pure gold or something.

Don't draw your conclusions just yet. Sales have plummeted in the last two quarters and believe it or not, consumers are driving a hard bargain. We need to see Q4 sales data before we speculate on where the market is heading.

You can get an ASRock 6800 ~$540 before sales tax, so $680 after :p

Or a Red devil 6800XT for $615/768

Which would you choose?

Historically, U.S. prices are best in January. There are factors like tariffs that could nerf it this time around. We'll see.

It is obvious, we were all wrong about the flood of cheap mining cards and their effect on the new market. So it will come down to opportunity cost. Myself, I am not wasting my limited number of heart beats on waiting to save a couple of $100. All because of programmed behavior DIYers have adopted over the last couple of decades. I paid $500 for a 2070 Super December 2019 and never regretted it. I paid that amount for a RX 6800 3 yrs later, and I already know I won't ever regret it.

It's a cheap hobby. Even a $1000 isn't much compared to just about any other adult hobby. But the rules of acquisition must be followed, right people? ;)

The Power Color Fighter model is $500 here in the U.S. Buying it from Amazon I'd get almost all of the tax money back. Plus it comes with 2 games. I have Callisto Protocol on my back log as I am playing Days Gone right now. Might keep it for my Halloween spooky season play list. The free zombie game will be out by then too.

But part of the fun is getting a good deal/good value for your money. ;)

Here in Denmark the state keeps its taxes, unless your name is Sanjay Shar....
