Are those "new" Domino's pizzas any good?

If their pizza was a 5 out of 10 before I would give it a 6 out of 10 now.

Better, but certainly not mind blowing. We make better pizza at home.

We have some very tasty local pizza places, but Papa Johns is so much cheaper. At least half the price.

Yea pretty much all national chains are going to be cheaper cus they can get the ingredients for cheaper. They might not be better but they are a hell of a lot cheaper.

I actually just ordered it for the fist time this past week when I usually order Papa's. It was better than it used to be but gave me the wost heart burn ever. I never get heart burn like that from Papa's.

Overall an improvement but still not as good as Papa's but a good alternative if you just want to mix it up.

The crust is a lot better. Not sure how to describe it, but it's worth a shot.

I think the new crust tastes a lot like their breadsticks. While their breadsticks are not very good, it works well for their pizzas.

I think it taste pretty good now. Sure, local pizza places are great, but I still like Papa John's, Pizza Hut's Pizza Mia, and the new Domino's regular crust.

I like Dominos of the chains since the switch. The cheese is 5000% better. It has the texture of... real cheese. Plus, I really like Dominos thin crust. They deliver quickly to my house, so it arrives really crispy.

I'm a big fan of a thin crust with ham, sausage, bacon and onion. Yep, I like pork.

Pizza hut is a close #2. Stuffed crust with ham, sausage, onion, and jalapenos. They do jalapenos better than most chain joints because they're cooked down a bit, obviously sauteed a little before they go on the pizza. Makes a big difference.

If you live in Arlington, VA, you know that our local pizza joints mostly suck. I can't always drive over to The Italian Store to get a real pizza - they don't deliver, and I spend a ton of money every time I walk in there.

Really? the places local to me are 1 of 2 thing. CRAZY overpriced, like $25 for a large, or super cheap and don't even use real cheese. Pizza Hut Stuffed Crust > * And yes I've had some of the good local places. Sorry, but I'm not going to pay $25 for a large pizza, it's NEVER that much better. I can get 2 1/2 pizzas from Pizza Hut for the same price.

When I was at Uni, there were several pizza places (non-chain) which sold pizzas at £4.00 made in front of your eyes, the same as a Dominos pizza. They also tasted better than a Dominos, yet cost less than 1/2 the cost.

Unfortunately, I'm older now and I no longer live in Manchester. I now live in Oxford where the choice is more limited: I've only got Dominos, since Papa Johns doesn't deliver to where I live. I don't know of any independent pizza places.

Edit: Grammar and spelling

Seriously, people need to stfu about their local places unless they are willing and able to deliver from them for under $15 to anywhere in the US.
Not every place has decent "mom and pop" pizza joints. There's no need to mention restaurants that aren't available to 99.999% of the nation every single time there is a discussion about national chain restaurants.

Papa John's does not have this problem.

I tried the "new" Domino's...couldn't tell a difference.

The cheese is much improved. The crust is a bit heavy on the garlic, though.

Overall, it's better than it was.

papa johns "the works" is where it's at now that they're matching Pizza Hut's $10 anything deal.

better? perhaps

good? no

i will continue to go to tasty local joints. if i want pizza as cheap as dominos i will just get digiorno or freschetta.

I don't find any of the store bought Digiorno-type pizzas good at all. They taste like trash.

I do order from good local pizza places though. I don't know why you guys are saying they are more money, but around Toronto they are cheaper and better quality. A standard Large comes to ~C$10 at a local place, and ~C$12 at a chain.

It's definitely better. Didn't notice much difference in the sauce. Cheese seemed better. Crust is great. That said, I still prefer their thin crust. Nothing beats the 4 corner pieces of a thin crust pepperoni.

We aren't talking about lobster, it's just pizza. For whatever reason I prefer the taste of papa johns, but dominos has better toppings just IMO.

As for the local joints, because of the economics of it all, they either over-charge on something that should be relatively cheap or they use really cheap ingredients. If I had a local place around me that charged only a buck or two more than the chain joints it would be fine so long as they aren't cutting corners on the ingredients.

My opinion is that I really don't taste too much of a difference. Yes they added a bit more spices and greased up the crust a little bit but there's no significant boost in flavor.

I really liked it, the crust was awesome. Personally I like it better than Pappa Johns with Pizza Hut ahead of both, but that's just me. Those are the only choices we have around here and it sucks as none are particularly good.

its a big improvement
imo
but not the best pizza out there its in the 5man rotation
ill order again(already have like 5x)

I tried it out last Tuesday. The "crust" is exactly the same machine made cardboard with "garlic cheese butter" squirted around the edge of the crust. The sauce is the same sauce with a ton of garlic and oregano added---making for a heartburn inducing mixture.

I'm pretty forgiving on pizza (hell- I even love Little Ceasars), but I won't be ordering this again.

The pizza is considerably better. And it is actually DIFFERENT. It is not the same shit with more artificial flavoring added on. They actually did change the product.
But considering how bad it was to begin with you may not be impressed with even massive improvements.

It reminds me more of Papa Johns...considering I liked the old Dominos better than Papa Johns, I consider it to be worse. However, its still decent.

For the local vs chain argument....you people have to understand that this is HEAVILY based on location. When I lived in Philly, I never ordered from a chain, ever. The local pizza places were both better AND cheaper than the chains, it was awesome. Now that I live in the Seattle area, I go exclusively to the chains, because the local pizza is terrible & ridiculously overpriced.

the new pizza is decent. definitely worth $6 for a large when coups are available.

if i had to critique it, i'd say it's too salty. i guess that's what they define as "flavor". overall, good in a pinch. i'd take it over pizza hut.
