Are things cool anymore?

I say the word cool to describe things sometimes and people my age (low 30's) seem to say it too, or at least the ones I'm around.

I do remember a period of time where the generation younger than me would describe things as being "tight" rather than "cool". I tried this on for size at the time and needless to say it didn't fit. It sounded awkward and made me feel old. Now my coworker says her daughter and their friends don't use the word tight, but rather "fresh". And I'm not using that one either!

Anyways, is cool a timeless word or am I an old fogie? And what are the kids using these days?

the californian "hella tight" translates to "wicked pisser" in bostonian, or if you prefer victorian english, "positively exemplary". to use the vernacular of most small children today, "fuck yeah, yo!".

I'm 31 and still use it. I think it's kinda timeless. I sure as fuck ain't saying "fresh" just because it's trendy.

And LOL, I use "tight" sometimes. The first time I remember hearing it was for some football video game in like 1997 or 98. They had a player playing the game and he goes "The graphics are tight." We thought "tight" was hilarious and started using it.
