Are these temps too high???

I'm running an e6300 core 2 duo on a Asus P5b motherboard....At idle the temp is around 46C and with a load(running Prime95) its around 60C.....I'm using the stock heatsink in a Thermaltake Mambo case with two 120mm fans and one 80mm on the side....These temps just seem too hot for me.

If you're at all stock, you're rig is running to warm. Pull the heatsink, clean things up, put down some new thermal paste and give it another run.

Did you follow the directions?

Also, AS5 has a cure time, but I forget what it is. (Temps get better over a couple of days?) But still, an e6300 should at stock should not hit 60C at load.

On-chip temp sensors are not always very accurate. Can you verify your temps with a external temp probe?

I ran prime95 and intel's thermal program at the same time and it pushed the temp to over 70C, but nothing locked up...it was still stable....i'll mess with it some more tomm...

You're not overclocked right? You shouldn't be hitting high temps unless you are overclocked. It's normal to see 60 and 70C in intel's thermal analysis tool under load. as long as you don't reach temps of over 80C in TAT (thermal analysis tool) you're fine.

You temps sound really high for someone not overclocking. Try and re-seat the HS, or go to AS website and find out what the burn in time is for that thermal paste. I know it has a burn in time, I just don't know it from the top of my head.

Yeah definitely running warm for idle... my e6600 only runs at 32C at idle. At load its like 41C, mobo is a constant 43C

Seems warm to me too. I have a P5B Deluxe overclocked to 3.2 with a Thermaltake Big Typhoon and a Lian Li 7B Plus II case. Temps are 41 at idle and 50 under load with Prime 95.
