Are these knives any good? (Ronco cutlery)

heard cutco is better also

but ronco's set it and forget it rotisserie is awesome.. i use it many times.. every time it comes out great..

Considering that the knives are sold through infomercials, you can take a stab (snicker) at whether the quality is good. 😛

I have no clue about knives, but I've heard Wusthof and Henckels are good brands, as well as Cutco.

Also, I'm sure the knives are OK for everyday use but when it comes right down to it, I bet they don't quite cut the mustard.

Any way you slice it, you definitely don't have your work cut out for you when using those knives. 😛

Those knives are likely stamped steel knives. You'd ideally want a forged set of knives, they'll last much longer than stamped steel.

Cutco makes decent knives. I use a henkles(sp) four star forged set; full tang forged blades.

There's also two kinds of Henckels, one made in Germany and one made in various other countries. Big price difference.

lol...that's a sharp wit you have there Encryptic and I love the way you get straight to the point.

What you need is 2-3 really good knifes in different sizes, not 15 shabby ones. You end up using the 2-3 you like best anyways.

We use Chicago Cutlery. I've had them for years and love them. I do have to sharpen them on a regualr basis, but they hold a nice edge and take a nice edge.
I bought a bunch of Cutco knives at an auction. I gave them all to my mother-in-law. She likes them. I wasn't too impressed with the knives but I kept a couple of the grill forks. They're nice.
I gotta throw a big negative at the Roncos. They look like Ginsu's to me.
Someone mentioned Henkle. They're nice knives, nice quality. I think they use a surgical stainless that doesn't necessarily hold a decent edge.

Yep. I don't understand how you could use all the knives in a 12-piece set when you cook.

Cutco is decent, but for the price, i would definitely rather get the higher end Henckels or Wusthof. And as already been said, all you need is 2-3 good knives.
