Are these fps right in half-life 2?

Whats up fellow Ananders, can you help me get to the bottom of this? I'm playing through HL2 and got to the Anti-citizen one chapter, where you fight the big things if ya know what I mean. Anyway, in some places my fps hovers around 30 if theres stuff going on, occasionally dipping to 14. This can't be right because I checked Anand's article and he got an average of 70-80 for the whole level with the same setup. Also everything is occasionally stuttery as if I don't have enough ram. My system is

Athlon64 3200
Geforce6800gt oc to ultra
1GB Crucial Ballistix 2-2-2-5
DFI Lanparty NF3
Enermax 430W
Turtle Beach SC sound card

Any advice for a long time denizon?
 
It looks like a good system, so I don't see anything off the bat... Have all the other levels run fine, or are they all slowish as well? What kind of HDD do you have? If it is REALLY old and slow, the game may not be able to load objects during runtime very quickly. Also, have you done any overclocking or other hardware tweaks recently?
 
I have a Hitachi 250GB with a 5GB partition for just windows, and a 245 for the pagefile (1024min/2048max) and everything else.The other levels seemed fine so I never checked the fps. I just oced my 6800gt half an hour ago to see if it would help but it doesn't seem like it did.
 
Hey long time denizen, what settings are you playing at? There must be a gazillion charts by now all over the web showing what FPS you get with certain setups, depending on what settings are being used. I would think you have everything cranked to the gills if you are slowing down to 15 fps with your config.
 
I installed the standard Nvidia drivers for my DFI instead of the DFI ones, could that make a difference?
 
I checked and anand was getting an average of 60-70 with the same rig, with a min at 29. I think theres gotta be some difference
 
anand probably got those speeds through most of the game as im sure you are

its just that point of the game (if you are were i think you are) were you are is extremely intensive and will be slower than the rest of the game (my system chuged on that bit when it runs every other part fine)
