Are these compatible?

Ok I don't know much about memory, so here goes.

I have the HP DV6000z (laptop), supposedly it carries the following memory

512 MB DDR2-533 (PC2-4200) SODIMM

If I want to add this to the open slot, is it compatible?

1GB PC2-5300 667MHz DDR2

Thanks

it should 'work', but u will not be dual channel... a small perf loss that should be greatly overcome by the additional memory... the mobo should just clock the new dimm at the lower speed...

u would need to put in a second stick of memory that looks very much like the first... some mobo's are more finicky, but it would have to be 512mb with the same chip config...

some mobo's want the eprom to look alike, too, so it would have to be 512 of 533, too...
