Hello, i am kinda new to the home networking scene, and i was wondering if there are any routers out there that support USB broadband modems? currently, i have the speedstream 4060 ADSL modem, which uses USB connection. here is the link for further specs, http://www.efficient.com/products/modusb.html This modem connects to my computer by USB and i connect to the net by using dialup software. i want to share this connection with my other computers at home, but i can not find any routers out there that seems to support it. i am running a hub right now and using ICS to share the connection, but this method require me to leave main comp on. i prefer to use routers, but which one? also, i tried to call my dsl provider, PACBELL, and they said i can't swap for a ethernet base modem becuase my one year contract is over, and i would have to pay 200 dollars for new modem if i wish to swap. i would prefer to spend 100 for a router then modem, but are there any? thanks.

The router should have a 10/100 connection as well as the USB connection. Check it & see if it is there, if it is, you can just use that with a Cable/DSL router. The other option is to build a cheep & quiet linux box to serve as your router (a 486 will work fine).

If you do decide to go the 486 route, you'll need a PCI USB adaptor...and make sure you can get Linux drivers for everything (check www.redhat.com for compatibility).
