Are there professional, automatic wire strippers?

My dad saw some automatic wirestripper on TV and decided to order it. I had no faith in it but he wanted to try it and it seemed to work good for him for the first week then the piece of junk just broke. You probably saw the ads for this thing... like this one

So now he's convinced there must be a professional tool like this and is hoping I can find one. All I can find is something that looks like this though I can't really see how it works from that pic... is that automatic- adjusting to any gauge wire?

Or have you had personal experience with some kind of autmatic wire stripper and would recommend it? Please give me a link for what you've used and can vouch for...
 
I used to work at a place that made cordsets. The had an electric stripper that you just had to stick the wire end in, and it grabbed it and stripped it.

There are, but they can run from several hundred to several thousand dollars depending on the type of wire.

I got a set just like that in an auto toolkit from Walmart for $20 (with socket set, screwdriver, etc). It worked pretty well until I tried to use the wire cutter on something too heavy duty, then it basically exploded in my hand.
 
I have a few friends that install cable and have some of these for coax, they work great. Not sure about those listed so far though and if there are better tools out there. I know they make them pretty specific for specific wire, but can at least vouch for the coax tool, if that helps any
 
yes, you can get really nice ones.

When you said automatic, though, I thought you were referring to one of those machines you load with a spool of wire, tell it how many peices you want, how long, and whether or not to strip the ends and then press the start button and it spits them out like a noodle machine - I like those.
