Are there more linux machines or macs in use right now?

Anyone know? I've seen a lot of software altely come out on windows first, then linux, and then amybe mac if they get around to it, seems like linux might actually be passing the macOS up...

Macs by a healthy margin, although Linux is no doubt much more popular for Internet servers (of various kinds).

The main issue is that it's impossible to count the actual Linux installed base. The reported numbers are for licensed sales, and thus vastly undercount the actual installed base.

Soley Linux, or do duel boots count? If you are going with linux being the only OS installed, then no, I would imagine that the macs have the edge. Counting dual boot machines(meaning still use Windows for something else) then the *nix's may have it.

Oh...Does OSX count in both categories? :D

servers = linux with apache (70% i believe)
desktops = mac 5% linux under 1%

Linux is well a head if you don't count OSX. Can't remember where I read, but there were a survey that claim Mac desktop out place Linux by a 5 to 1 margin.
