Especially around this time of year, whether instore or even better, on the 360 itself, do they ever have deals? I think i recall the first year or so they had a special on the points through the 360 itself, but i haven't really been using my 360 for years, and now i'm trying to catch up on a lot of the games over the holidays, and most of them have DLC i want to buy.

Yep. There usually are at Target, Dell.com, etc. They don't happen every month but a few times a year. eBay can be a good place to get them as well if you find the right person.

It depends but yes there are deals. I used an Amazon deal that you got $5 back from buying Microsoft points and used it to buy more points. You'll just have to keep an eye on websites like Fatwallet.

Probably not the deal you're looking for, but there is a promotion where if you buy some number of points (2000?) using an American Express card, you get 3 months of Live Gold for free.

Yeah, I saw that and calculated how much the Live Gold would be per month with that deal. I think it was still cheaper to buy the Live Gold 12 month card on sale, if you that's what you wanted.

FWIW, my friend runs a deals site and they seem to be on top of all the Live related stuff. logicbuy.com

Deals are nice, but I'd really love to purchase the exact amount of points that I need.

For example, I'm not going to touch a weekly deal that's something like 240pts or 300 pts if I have an unusual amount remaining. Likewise, I have 11 (yes 11) MSP remaining in my account that will likely never be used.

That said, Target has been my goto place for points on sale in the past year, but, I don't bother looking for sales anymore.

Well, they went that direction with the Games on Demand. Maybe they'll eventually do the same with the XBLA games and DLC too.

Next week at Best Buy, you can get a ticket to Sherlock Holmes plus some other jazz if you buy an Xbox Live product $19.99 or above. Kind of like the Watchmen ticket deal they had earlier in the year.
