Are there bands that both you and your parents like?

Inspired by the classic rock thread.

Both my old man & I like Floyd. I'm 32 and he's 57. More bands come to mind but none as much as that one.

Any bands come to mind for you? Do you rock out to the same stuff as your parental units?

Santana
311
The Cat Empire

off the top of my head.

Edit: Elvis.

My dad's a big fan of Elvis and it wore off on me.

I like music from pretty much every decade, so yes, we share a lot of the same likes. My parents don't listen to much new stuff though.

My mom and I actually like a lot of the same bands. She's 50 and I'm 20.

Her and I like: NIN, Disturbed, Tool and Fallout Boy, Pink Floyd and some others I can't remember right now.

My Dad and I share interest in a lot of classic rock. ACDC, Aerosmith, Guns N' Roses, Motley Crew, some others. He's 44.

My mom came into my room last summer (the last time I was living at home) and said to me, "you know, out of all the things that have surprised me in my life I never, ever thought my son would be listening to the same music that I did at my age."

We both listen to the Beatles, Springsteen, Dylan, CCR, The Allman Brothers, Rollingstones, etc.

My parents listened to Perry Como and such. About the most adventurous they ever got was purchasing the single "Dominique" by the Singing Nun. There was never any musical common ground between us.

How about this: My daughter likes music I like that my dad also likes. Three generations...
That's cool.

Cool responses all around actually! I'm impressed by the newer stuff being listed. You know if your Mom rocks out to some NIN with you, you have a cool mom 🙂

sade, stevie wonder, the beatles, tower of power, johnny cash, the stones... mainly its stuff i was raised listening to. as far as modern artists go, i dont think ill hear a squabble if i play social d, cake or the chili peppers in my car or on a jukebox.

no
but there is music me and my children like
i took my kids to weird al yankovic concert, we all had a great time

the beatles, ac/dc, led zeppelin, lynyrd skynyrd, pink floyd, and a few other bands... and my parents are like me in that, generally we aren't fans of certain bands, but some songs we all like. my dad also shares my interest in Nirvana. 🙂
it was funny when my mom walked into my room over the summer and heard me listening to Led Zeppelin and was kind of shocked. I laughed. 🙂
she's also heard a few songs from Coheed & Cambria that she liked, or would ask me if it was Led Zeppelin or something.

Well, my parents are gone (I'm kind of old) but my daughter and I like a lot of the same music. I grew up on '70s metal and hard rock and I like contemporary bands like Green Day, Coheed & Cambria, My ChemicalRomance, etc. We went to a concert a few weeks ago headlined by Skillet and Norma Jean. I definitely avoid the mosh pit, my bones can't take the pounding anymore!

CCR, The Who, Classical. Plus lots of random songs. I like the old Springsteen but generally fell the new stuff is crap.
