ugh, how has Coldplay not been mentioned yet?

Not everyone likes that band though.

There are bands that are very big names like The Beatles... and I just don't like them.

I don't like ACDC either.

No, son, if i was putting a gun to your head and forced you to listen to anything it would be Ace of spades much too loud for what is good for your eardrums.

The way it's meant to be listened to.

Maybe I meant to say if "someone" put a gun to my head :)

Although I can't comprehend not liking the Beatles. It's like not liking your parents, it's innate (maybe only in England)

It's probably an English thing, i once said that Sinatra was way overrated and got quite the bit of hate from people you wouldn't expect that from but i suppose that is US tradition (hey, at least they have one).

That's fair enough. Your right, it's good to know that such a young country is starting to make it's own traditions, give in a couple of hundred years maybe they'll start forgetting why they do the things they do.

I dunno, it might become a problem when we take our colony back... ;)

Linkin Park has a HUGE hate base. I don't know where you got that idea.

I'm talking about bands like THE BEATLES/LED ZEPPELIN/BOB DYLAN, ETC.

Everyone I know personally either 1) LOVES Linkin Park or 2) doesn't know who Linkin Park is (my mother, for example).

First two: Meh... Like some songs, dislike others. If they'd played when there were thousands of bands like that they'd never have been as big.

Bob Dylan: Rather listen to a dentist drill for 2 hours than to his voice for 2 seconds.

That Jack White dude. Not my type of music at all but everyone seems to love everything that guy does.

Beatles, ACDC, Rolling Stones.

Not a fan of LZ or Rush, but they have a few EPIC songs that I can acknowledge as greatness, but it's not like I can just pop in and listen to an entire CD.

Still no mention about Pink Floyd? I guess they win the thread

I dont care much for any of those old bands, but I dont dislike them either, most of the songs just do nothing for me since Im from a completely different generation... But if you listen to the solo in Comfortably Numb and you dont feel anything, theres something wrong with your head

Hm, as for the actual topic, probably Iron Maiden I guess, I just find all of their stuff boring

No but I don't like music in general, so it makes sense.

Although there is one thing that amuses me about Led Zeppelin, alot of americans think they are american ha. It was on a TV program a while ago, they went around asking americans who the best american band ever was, and for some reason a LOT of them answered Led Zep.

Actually this is what I can't understand. You don't like any music or just what passes for music in popular culture? For me few things bring the kind of joy or evoke emotiion that some pieces of music can bring to me. To me the ability to create music is one of the greatest human achievments.

I think the reason they were big, is because they existed there are now "thousands of bands like that"

I don't like any music (pretty much) I would say I dislike 99.98% of music, so I disregard the form. It's just an art form that doesn't speak to me, unlike something like architecture, or pop art, which I quite enjoy.

Old Metallica
It's too shrill and 80s hair band sounding. (Did they even have bass back then?)

There are also some amazing songs from them in that era (Master of Puppets, One, etc), but a lot of it is crap!
