Are there any really good portable bluetooth speakers?

I'm using bluetooth speakers in my (older) cars to listen to audio from my phone.

Right now I have a beacon audio speaker...which is all right for what it is. It is loud and has good battery life, but the audio quality isn't very good.

Any suggestions? There are so many little obscure BT speakers out there.

http://www.amazon.com/Jabra-CRUISER-...abra+cruiser+2

I got this for my sister a couple of christmases ago. Connects via bluetooth and has an fm transmitter so you can use your car speakers for music and calls.

http://www.amazon.com/Oontz-Ultra-po...ds=oontz+curve

For sound quality in a car I figure nothing will beat being able to use your car speakers, but I got one of these to play with a week or so ago. It has really good sound quality and includes a microphone for hands free calling. If you wanted to go that route I would get the bigger brother of this speaker called the Oontz Angle though because it takes a lot of volume to overcome road noise.

It seems to me like the Jabra Cruiser fits your needs best.

I heard the Nokia Play 360 is pretty good, plus NFC based bluetooth pairing.

here you go. from logitech for $170. i wouldnt even mess with those puny palm sized speakers. to have big good sound, you gotta have big speakers pumping air around. it is just not possible for puny speakers to move volumes of air, despite what Bose claims

o_O That doesnt look that ideal for the car TBH.

The jabra looks good, isnt the Moto roadster 2 supposed to be pretty decent?

NFC?

So you just...touch the phone with the speaker to pair?

I'm a fan of Nokia stuff so I am leaning to these guys.

Yep, just touch the phone to the top of the speaker and it pairs. Plus the frame is made of aluminum, and if you get 2 of the speakers, they can pair together (wirelessly) and play together in stereo.

UE Boom. Hands down, clearest and loudest. Allows you to use two for stereo or just to unicast within range. Also functions as a speakerphone. It's a bit taller than a beer can and slightly narrower.

The Bose mini has better bass but goes into compression way before max volume to prevent clipping. It also does not have a speakerphone function.

I was given one (UE) as a gift and thought it was a gimmick at first. Paired it to my iPad and was amazed at the clarity and volume.

I got these from Hong Kong (http://www.diytrade.com/china/pd/12..._beat_box_portable_speaker_Beats_speaker.html)

And they're great. Honestly, it makes me laugh when I see people in the US spending like $75+ on their speakers that are bigger and sound worse. I blasted music through mine last year and someone brought out his Jambox which just completely crackled even at a modest volume.

Now with that said, I've heard really good things about the UE speakers and I'd like to try them out. I'm a big UE fan having used a few of their earbuds like the SF5 Pro and TF10 Pros.

I received a bluetooth speaker as a gift. It is really convenient to share music, film sounds wi.th iPhones, iPads, iPod Touch or other bluetooth supported devices. It also sounds clear with high-performing microphone.

I like the JBL flip. It's small, cheap and it does pack a punch. Especially for the size.

I have the same speaker. It's not bad at all for the $7 I spent on it. I've been very impressed with the quality compared to other's that I've heard.

+1
Maybe battery life could be better (~4h when not on loudest setting) though.
Other than that, awesome sound for the size and price (I got it for 70$).

Bose Soundlink Mini (and I hate Bose prices)

http://www.amazon.com/Bose-SoundLink...soundlink+mini

It's the best sounding tiny speaker I've heard yet.

Note the 1000+ reviews and 5 stars.
I second this. Bose speakers are fantastic. I bought my Bose Soundlink II off the recommendation of this site: http://bestbluetoothspeakersreviews.net/ and I'm really happy with my choice right now. Someone above mentioned that the prices of Bose products are high and I don't disagree with that but it's really worth it if you have the money for it.

Do they have a micro-phone (ala speaker phone usage) ? Ack it does not; anything of this quality with a micro-phone ?

The Bose isn't as clear nor plays as loud as the UE Boom. It does have better bass and a replaceable battery pack.

However the UE has a mic so it makes a decent speaker phone and is daisy chain-able to a single device for either stereo output or dupe output so sound can be shared over a larger area, etc.
