Are there any programs out there that convert video files to Xbox 360 compatible ones?

I am trying to figure this out. Obviously the Xbox 360 is very finicky about what media it will play back, and I've tried probably three or four different methods for either transcoding/streaming video files or just converting them so that they will play. I'm fine with either one. However, none of them seem to work, and several of them are so weird or complicated that I can't figure out how to use them.

So what do you guys use? My other option is to just connect my computer directly to my TV, which I can do, but it's a lot less convenient.

Wow, so Transcode 360 just worked this time. I tried it earlier and it didn't work at all.

As for a converter, I'd say mostly XviD type stuff. I'm just wondering if there's any consensus on a good converter that can handle a lot of video formats and isn't TOO slow. I tried Handbrake, which I've heard a lot of good things about, and it even had a preset for the 360, but when I tried to convert something, it looked like it was going to take longer to convert than the video file's length, which is a bit ridiculous. I also looked at some simple .bat files people wrote for VLC, where you just drop the file onto it to be converted, but they didn't even work at all... a window would pop up and immediately disappear.

Tversity,

but 100% make sure to check out http://xenonmkv.ev98.net. That's what i use all the time. It doesnt even need a transcode since it basically just changes the container (MKV --> MP4)...way faster than transcoding.

If you go to zunescene.com, I believe, and download the free Zune video converter, all the videos should be playable on the 360. The best part about this program besides it's price is it's speed, not to mention it's ridiculously easy to use. I converted the entire 1st season of Dexter to my Zune-native format in relatively little time, compared to all the other solutions I've tried.

I use Fairuse Wizard to go from DVD to Divx/AC3 avi that will play through the 360, works great. Only issue is it will only convert from ISO or dvd itself, won't convert other formats. Also use this to convert dvd's to put on my Zune.
