Are there any PDAs coming out with internal Hard Drives?

So many cool PDAs coming out that can play videos and stuff. But is there any that will have 10/20GB Hard Drives in them?

Not until we see some advancements in battery life. Size will probably double too unless they hardwire in a microdrive (which will cause the cost to go up). Battery life is the number one issue though, as most pocket pc's only have 16 hours MAX, and thats a high estimate. Add a drive in there that will be spinning constantly and that really hits the battery hard.

But the iPod is not running a 200MHz+ processor, 64bit color backlit screen, etc. PDAs have more going on than a regular mp3 player, so I don't think that's a fair comparison.

I'm not comparing anything, I'm simply stating what the battery life is for current technology out there.

What he's saying is that the ipod doesn't have to supply nearly the amount of power that a pocket pc does. The pocket pc display is a big killer on battery life, not to mention the much speedier processor. Add stuff like a WiFi card or a GPS and the battery life on a pocket pc is even lower. All the ipod has to do is spin the drive enough to buffer 32MB of music, process/play the music, and power the display (which being grayscale is nowhere near the power hog a pocket pc screen is)

I have an 10GB Ipod, they do almost last to 10 hours, but thats only when the hard drive bearly spins, cuz it has a 40Minute cache, so it doesn't use the hard drive often.

Then I guess I don't understand the point of your post, since the topic was PDA's with internal hard drives.

whilei prob won't be editing video, i'll prob be watching them as even Palm PDAs support MPEG4. Also PDAs double as MP3 players and if i can replace my Clie, iPod, digicam, and maybe even cel phone wih one device, who in the world doesn't want that? (well prob most of the seperate manufactorer :p

But the new clie NX70 is real close to replacing 3 of them. Only thing it really needs to make it *perfect* for me would be about 10GB to hold my MP3s, apps, and some video
