Question Are there any new cases similar to the HAF-X? I have special needs.

I've owned a HAF-X for years, and I've been happy with it. Over time, though, I've lost the two USB 3 ports from the front panel, and there were only two to begin with. I'll be upgrading my system, and I was wondering if there was anything similar to the HAF-X, but more modern with more USB 3 ports. The tricky part is that I've had up to 9 hard drives inside, and I rip BluRays, 3 at a time, so I need a case with 3 5.25" bays, and lots of room for hard drives. I know that the 5.25" bays are going extinct, but I still need them. Am I completely out of luck?

The Phanteks Enthoo Pro/Pro Tempered Glass also have 3 optical drive bays and are very nice cases as well.

Technically, the HAF-X itself is still listed as a current product by CM; I don't know if you could buy a new one from them or not (their online store is down for "inventory check"). However, since it technically is a current product, you may be able to order parts from them through customer support to repair your old case if you haven't tried to do so.

There's mine, still love it.

I actually like the look of the HAF-X. With the red glow, it's got kind of a furnace feel to it. If I can replace the ports without too much trouble, I'd be glad to hold onto it. Maybe I can find some magnetic filters to keep some of the dust out. It's a pain in the ass to clean.

Yours is a 932, right? It looks different than mine.

Yup, it's a 932. It is a pain in the ass to clean, that's for sure, but I've never had any problems with cooling any of the hardware inside. I just get a forklift, take it out to the patio and spray it out every 6 months. It's not everybody's cup of tea, but I have always liked the industrial look about it.

CM Cosmos II or a Silverstone TJ04B both have front panel USB3, support for 3 optical drives, and space for plenty of HDDs.

I looked at the Cosmos 2, and even the 25th Anniversary edition. I loved the glass panels, having 2 fans blowing air in sideways with no airflow from

It's hard to beat when it comes to air cooling. As an experiment, I stuck my hand inside through the front while the machine was running. It was a windy day in there.

I've worked on the HAF cases. They're great. I've built a few Cosmos II systems. They're good. The only drawback is possibly newer/future USB but add in cards exist for a reason. The HAF is a pain in the butt to clean unless you use filters, and even then they clog up fast. They're great for hot climates, though. Corsair still makes a few traditional full towers. It'll cost you quite a bit, but it's worth it.
