Are there any nascar fans here?

I was raised on Dale Earnhardt, so it is pretty hard not to have it on in the background on sunday afternoons and the such. This year I joined one of those fantasy racing leagues and found it just that much more fun and interesting. If I am a hick for watching Nascar, then I'm a hick, but any car with 750+ horsepower that can hold a moderatly banked corner going 180+mph is pretty cool in my book.

On another note, I have noticed a lot of the "rice" community giving Nascar fans slack for enjoying the sport. I guess the world is full of stupid people. I watch cars go around in circles for 4 hours straight. They spend a$$loads of money on stupid cars to make them look stupider.

Though I am a huge domestic car fan, I am looking forward to what Toyota is going to bring to the sport. It will give me one more topic to flame and complain about along with fords and jeff gordon.

Indeed it does!

Dale Earnhardt also pwnz you even though he's passed on to the huge nascar track above us all🙁

Go Dale Jr. and Harvick!

ahem...ok I'll admit it just to prove you wrong... I'm both. 🙂

Me too!

Bill Elliott is the man! I've been a Nascar fan for 20 years! No other racing offers so many leader changes, bumping and banging, and close competition. CART, IRL, and F! usually don't have wheel to wheel racing during the whole race. I've been to too many Daytona races than I can count. I can't wait to go to Bristol some day to watch the soup bowl races at night.

There must be a lot of "rednecks" in the US because more people watch NASCAR than any other sport. It's not even close. There are tracks in traditional redneck states like New Hampshire and Delaware, as well as New York, Arizona and Michigan.

I would call you an idiot but I don't like stating the obvious.

people get touchy when they are labeled a "redneck" or a "hick" because they do things like watch nascar or go hunting. hey if you like the sport, more power to ya, but it's really hard for me to sit there and watch it for 4 hrs, i'd rather catch the crashes and finishes on espn btw my basketball highlights.

now sitting in the infield of the track, sitting atop yer trailer chuggin beer for an entire weekend w/ yer buddies while sitting half naked sporting a beer belly and watching cars banking corners at 180+? now that's entertainment!! something to experience at least once in yer lifetime i reckon...

I found the few races I watched boring.

Lef-Left-Left-Left-Lef-Left-Left-Left-Left-Left-Left-Lef-Left-Left-Left-Left-Left-Left-Lef-Left-Left-Left-Left-Left-Left-Lef-Left-Left-Left-Left-Left-Left-Lef-Left-Left-Left-Left-Left-Left-Lef-Left-Left-Left-Left-Left-Left-Lef-Left-Left-Left-CRASH OMFG A CRASH WOOOHOOO SOMETHING TO BREAK UP THE MONOTONY LET'S PRETEND WE ARE WORRIED ABOUT THE DUDE WHEN REALLY THIS IS WHAT WE HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR THE WHOLE TIME-Left-Left-Left-Lef-Left-Left-Left-Left-Left-Left-Lef-Left-Left-Left-Left-Left-Left-Lef-Left-Left-Left-Left-Left-Left-Lef-Left-Left-Left-Left-Left-Left-Lef-Left-Left-Left-Left-Left-Left-Lef-Left-Left-Left-Left-Left-Left-Lef-Left-Left-Left-Left-Left-Left-Lef-Left-Left-Left-Left-Left-Left-Lef-Left-Left-Left-Left-Left-Left-Lef-Left-Left-Left-end of race.

Of cource, this is just personal opinion you can like it if you want 🙂

At the Daytona 500 there was 3X the amount of the Super Bowl

I am a big fan of nascar, but I can't let that one go, since I am also a big fan of football. Do you seriously think if the tickets were as cheap as the 500 and there were 3 times the seats that the superbowl wouldn't get just as high attendance?

But the good thing about nascar is that every race you get to see all the top stars, unlike in a lot of other sports you only see 2 teams per game, which is a small amount of the total players.

I am a huge Nascar fan. Nascar is the best sport in America IMO. I hate people that say it's just cars driving around in circles. It's 140 degrees, 3 G's pushing on you, constant mental concentration, and 3 1/2 hours of it. Watch a driver get out of the car after a 500 mile race. They are dog-tired. Most normal people couldn't stand it for more than 5 minutes.

Yes, I know I always bring up old threads, but I couldn't stop myself on this one 😛

I never said it was easy. Just boring to watch 😛

Going to one is a lot better than watching it on TV. I love NASCAR, and dragged a friend of mine to a race a while back. He had previously hated it/made all kinds of fun of me for liking it (it's for rednecks, hillbillies, etc.) Now he can definitely respect it (won't say he loves it, but he'll watch it on TV and has even taken on drivers to root for.) Personally I think going to a NASCAR race is kinda like going to a Grateful Dead concert (when they were around.) Even if you don't like the band (or the racing) you can still have a great time enjoying the atmosphere.
