Are there any Lowe's shoppers here?

Apparently Lowe's has lost their right to market the Milwaukee brand of tools and accessories. Beginning immediately Milwaukee has stopped all sales of their tool lines to Lowe's. They will honor their warranties, but as soon as Lowe's runs out of their estimated six month inventory of Milwaukee tools they will no longer be allowed to market them.

Milwaukee dumps Lowe's.

I wonder what effect this will have on Lowe's sales. It is not all that it seems, I believe. Home Depot and Miilwaukee are snuggled up in bed and seem to be kicking Lowe's to the curb. What options to you see that Lowe's will have to replace this quality line of tools?

I got to use a DeWalt 36V hammerdrill this weekend. That sucker's powerful and surprisingly light. Do they have something that can match?

Milwaukee quality is slipping. The only tool that would be sold at Lowes I could see being better in the Milwaukee brand is the saws-all and possibly corded drills.

not a big lost to me, I don't even own any Milwaukee brand tools. Is the Milwaukee brand like the Cadillac of power tools?

Lowe's carried the 36 volt line of DeWalts for awhile about a year ago and then quit for some reason. Perhaps too expensive or lack of sales.

I doubt average homeowner, who makes up the majority of Lowe's sales, wouuld be in the market for such a high end tool.

Exactly. Lowe's caters more to homeowners, and DIYers while Home Depot makes its bucks with the contractors. The typical joe, like yourself, wouldn't know a Milwaukee from a Firestorm froma Ryobi as far as quality and probably couuldn't care less. If you were to buy a power tool it would be to use for a one time project and then put it on a shelf in your garage. Why would you care about quality and longevity of the tool?

I do know Ryobi is crap! they are more toy-like than real quality tool.

"Lost their right"?

You may have it backwards.
More likely it was Lowe's that dumped the Milwaukee line.

I beleive that most cordless drills etc. manufactured today have plastic gears and components, but Bosch uses metal gears inside their tools.

At least that is what the maintenance supervisor at work told me.

That makes no sense at all. Especially after reading the article. Did you just decide to post without reading?

Not that it makes a whit of difference to most people, but this leaves Lowe's with a slimmed down line of DeWalt, some Bosch, a fair amount of HItachi, a dwindling supply of Skil, a whole lot of Firestorm and few Task Force power tools as opposed to HD's lineup of just about everything listed and then some.

Who comes out the winner?

Milwakee will just sell a rebranded name.

Milwaukee already manufactures Ryobi and Rigid, not to mention part of the Craftsman line. Are you suggesting they will invent yet another line to undercut the sales of their already existing lines?

All brand quality is slipping... Tool quality is going to shit. Companies need to be ashamed of their own brands... It's all plastic disposable shit.

The same people that make Milwaukee make Ryobi and Ridgid.. That tells me that there should only be ONE brand between the three of them. Fuck.. do you guys know that Black and Decker (soccer-mom tools) owns Dewault?!

If you're going to Home Depot or Lowe's to buy tools, you're getting shit no matter what price you pay.. So.. buy the cheapest and then buy a few spares.

Just bought a Milwaukee Sawzall a couple of months ago, used it for the first time this past weekend. Got it at Lowes. I hate Home Depot. Glad I don't need anymore power tools.

I have the -22 Milwaukee Sawsall. It's the smaller of the two. I demod and rebuilt my bathroom with a few years ago. It was great not having to worry about lack of power.
