Are there any good recent shooters for the PC? What about platformers?

I've noticed that with the nextgen consoles they have some decent selections of shooters available for download. I was just wondering if there are equivalents on the PC, preferably something created within the last 2-3 yers. I've seen plenty of Grid War clones so I'm not particulary interested in those unless it's really unique (Everyday Shooter).

I'm also curious if there are any noteworthy PC platformer games. With all the new technology I'd like to see a really graphically superior 2d platforming game, maybe something done in Cel Shading. I guess I'm interested in seeing the old school gaming formula redone with nicer graphics.

Heh, PC Platformers... I wish, believe me, I wish, and I'm not referring to Console ports. Honestly if there's a thing that the PC platform can't do and get are platformers. There's a few of them, but most of them are quite old. If you like old games and a long adventure try Shadow Man (no, Shadow Man is NOT a Console port, it was originally developed on the PC and then toned down for Consoles, then the sequel was made only on PS2). If you like Console ports though you'd have a good amount of choices, although, still, most of them will be old... at least the good ones are.

As for shooters, well, you shouldn't lack choices on the PC, be it first-person or third-person shooters, it ain't lacking on PC that's for sure. There's the recent ones such as Crysis and Bioshock, and probably a thousand more I won't take the time to type here. If you want a complete (as far as I know) list of PC games (and all other existing platforms in history) I suggest you to visit the following web-site: http://www.uvlist.net/
