Are there any GOOD PC racing SIMS out there?

I'm talking about the rinky dink new Need for Speed game...that is a POS. I'm talking about some real deal simulations here. I just got Papyrus NASCAR 2003 Season for free with my Microsoft FF Wheel and it's pretty fun.

But I want to race some faster and better handling cars. Are there any good F1 or LeMans type games out there? I doubt there are any good LeMans racers out there, but I thought I'd ask

Well, it's not for the PC yet (comes out this fall I think) but Test Drive Le Mans for the Dreamcast is very good. My goal, one day, is to run the entire 24hrs in real time.

Papyrus GPL is the top dog.
F1 2002 is pretty good.
Live for Speed is pretty good.

If you want hardcore racing sims check out Race Sim Central

What an impressive goal to have... heh.

Anyway, you cant beat Colin McCrae 2 and 3, they are simply the best racers in existence, in fact although 2 is older and not as good looking, I think it still plays better than 3. Then get yourself a force feedback wheel and youre one happy bunny. Also try Rollcage II which is more arcade but still excellent especially in Mulitiplayer and has hours and hours of playability.

MotoGP2 is fantastic if you like bikes - unbelievable realism (bikers will notice it a lot more than Joe Average) but it's still tons of fun and the graphics are amazing as well.

Get NASCAR Heat, there's a mod of it out there for everyone...

I'm currently playing All American Open Wheel HEAT (Its IRL Heat, but cause of the IRL they couldn't use the name or something)...

Colin McRae's are the best you can get though...

I've got CMR2 I believe. I got bored of it quick. Too many confines and it wasn't really all that fun. I'm not a "swing out the rear end" kind of person.

Tried F1 2002? It's a good game, and it's definately not another NFS game. Turn off any and all options used to "help" ya out and you'll be in F1 sim heaven for the most part

Damage modeling still sucks... basically its just your spoilers and wheels, coming off which results in loss of grip... its pretty much limited by the game engine and it was meant to be for single seaters. Anyway... the driving physics is damn nice though. Ive only driven the 360 and the 550 most of the time since i'm a ferrari freak... most people drive the Diablo though... sounds pretty scary.

If for some reason it's still down by the time you get the game... check out the BPR mod... its not as polished or as pretty as the GTR mod but its a damn nice mod as well by a much smaller team. Those F40s make me drooooool...

Grand Prix 3 (nice gameplay)
Grand Prix Legends (Awesome car physics)
F1 2002 (Nice graphics)
Viper Racing (based on the physics for GPL)

I'm hooked on Test Drive Le Mans, Ferrari F355 and Test Drive V Rally for Dreamcast. Don't have PS2 or XBox.
