Are there any good bolt-on coolers for LGA1155?

I am sick and tired of Intel's pathetic attempt to save $0.50 on their coolers by not having a proper bolt-on mounting bracket. I will not buy another push-pin cooler. Are there any good coolers with alternative mounting methods? (For less than $40?)

If you want to pick one of those, get the EVO - it doesn't have gaps between the heatpipes at the bottom.

I didn't know that the Hyper 212 was a bolt on. Thanks, this makes my decision a whole lot easier. And I'll definitely get the EVO, as it fixes the only issue that I have with direct-contact heatpipe coolers.

Now, could you guys recommend me a good set of fans for a push/pull configuration?

Any comments or suggestions regarding the 612 vs. the 212 EVO?

612 appears to have a smooth (copper) contact surface, also appears to be quite large but I haven't seen it beside anything else.

Received a Hyper212 EVO today from Newegg, and I have to say, honestly, from appearances it doesn't compare to the Corsair A70.... A70 is bigger, has 2 fans in push/pull, heatpipes are thicker... Corsair A70 is bigger and better in every way I can tell...

If you have the choice between Corsair A70 and 212 EVO, I recommend the A70.

I will do temperature & sound comparisons soon 🙂

To be fair the hyper 212 evo is a full 20 dollars cheaper and still cools great.

The thing is, I'd be spending over $20 in better fans for the EVO anyway. So, if I do go for dual-fans, I might as well get a beefier heatsink to go with them.

Yeah, it really comes down to how much you want to overclock. EVO is more than enough for a slight-to-medium overclock.

If you're patient, I actually got my Corsair A70 for $19.99 after a $15 rebate, it was $34.99 with $15MIR, and free shipping... Even for $34.99 it is a good deal, however.

Is Corsair still including only 2000RPM 3-pin fans and not 4-pin PWM fans? If so, those fans are worthless to me.

Yes they are only 3-pin with the resistor...

Wondering if I can put 2 resistors in series and reduce the speed further... Will give that a shot if I can find the other one!

Thermalright Macho (HR-02) is pretty nice. Comes with a 14cm fan and all parts are metal. Easy to mount, done many builds with Macho. Price in Europe is under 40€, should be less in USA 🙂
