Are there any good action RPGs out recently?

Still waiting on Diablo III. I'm a few expansion packs behind on WoW, and not sure if I want to spend the time getting back up to speed on it.

Has anything else with an isometric view (not first person) come out lately?

The latest is Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning. I haven't played it yet (going to be spending all my time with Mass Effect 3) but the general concensus seems to be awesome combat, sort of blah story. There's a demo you can try. You might also be interested in Dungeon Siege 3 which also has a demo.

Well, of course there is Skyrim. I recommend it very strongly. I enjoyed it very much. I am not sure exactly what you mean about the camera view, but you can zoom in and out with the mouse wheel. Honestly I would not want to pass up the game just because of one thing like the view.

As to Kingdoms of Amalur and DS3, I played both demos. I thought Kingdoms was quite good but the combat was a bit too much of using special moves and such, but that is what most people like. I am just not very good at that kind of combat, so prefer more stats and equipment based combat like Skyrim.

Personally, I did not really like DS3 at all, and overall I think most people consider it mediocre at best.
I would not pay full price for either, but would probably pick both of them up eventually.

I vote Bastion. Try the demo and make sure you have sound on when you try it. The story telling is one of the best parts.

Kingdoms of Amalur isn't isometric, but it's by far a better game than Diablo 3. It's quite fun and I recommend it strongly.

Kingdoms of Amalur for something between Diablo and a RPG in terms of gameplay.

Highly recommend Bastion for gameplay + iso. Really fraking amazing game.

yeah Bastion would be my pick.

If you can get a beta key...Path of Exile is a good diablo clone.

lol, because diablo3 has been released

The Beta is all I need to judge the game on how aweful it is going to be, and I'm a huge Blizzard fanboy.

I'm actually quite disappointed by it, and it's very upsetting.

I don't care how good the story may or may not be, but when the sole mechanic in a game is nothing but "click on everything that moves until it doesn't move anymore", the game is rubbish. Yes, I realize it'll be released on consoles and probably tablets, too, and that's why the gameplay is rubbish. Lack of character specialization and customization is pretty much the nail in the coffin. But that's a different thread, and we don't need to hijack this one.

Suffice it to say: Kingdoms of Amalur is a great game and is better than Diablo 3 will be.
