I'm not sure what you are looking for. You don't want role playing, or rpg's, yet you do want turn-based. I've never played Ultima though, so that might be why I don't know what you're looking for.

i don't know about dungeon siege 2, but i think (it's been a long time since i've played it) the first one had a key to show loot on the ground and a "pick up all" button or icon. i'd be surprised it they removed these for a sequel.

also, i've only played the first neverwinter nights game and i just found it to be way too slow-moving. the demo isn't too hot either... it's basically the tutorial level.

forgotten realms demon stone. great story, and has all you are asking for.
Thanks I'll check it out. Unfortunately there's no demo, so I'll have to wait til I see it in a store somewhere.

I don't want a lot of cut-scenes telling some story. The story should be told at the beginning, where your goal is clear, but how you attain that goal is not (again, think Zelda). There can be interactions with other characters through dialogue, but I just don't like constant cut-scenes, because then it feels like I'm in a story rather than on an adventure.

Regarding turn-based, I like turn-based combat because it isn't just mouse-mashing. If you know of a real-time D&D adventure game that isn't just plain ol' mouse-clicking to fight, then I'm all for it.

Cool I didn't see the demo for the first one, I'll try that out.
