Are there any free codecs to play DVDs?

WMP plays my DVD movies just fine - even full screen. (XP Pro or Vista)

Then you've installed something that came with the right codecs because MS doesn't include them for licensing reasons.
 
True - but they makes them easily available.

Those are just links to 3rd party DVD players that you still have to pay for. Most likely when you bought your drive you got a disc with one anyway.

That's two SKUs out of how many? And you still have to pay for the license, that's why it's only included in those two SKUs.
