Are there any computer retailers....

Who's employees work on commission? My mom wants to know if anybody would be willing to "give us a good deal if we buy two laptops".

I know CC and BBuy employees don't work on commission, but the managers get bonuses for stores that make profit. Maybe working with a manager would net a better deal?

I'm just thinking out loud here, I doubt anybody is going to give discounts for buying multiple computers.

Maybe if you're looking at getting several expensive laptops... but two cheap laptops? No.

Radioshack employees work mostly on commission, but don't earn commission on the computers themselves. They earn commission on any accessories or service plans sold with the computer. I doubt you're going to get very far trying to get a discount though.

Actually, looking at getting one gaming-capable laptop($1000-1400) and one cheapish one (around $700 or so).

no one cares if you are buying 2 laptops, there is no margin in laptops under $1000. Most are sold under cost. So unless your buying a clearance item or open box item then no retailer will give you a discout. Even if you were buying 100's of laptops from a retailer they wouldn't give you a discount, because there's nothing to discount. Thats why they have limited quanities in ads.

micro center's sales people work on commission. but i dunno if they can have any say on the price of new computers. if it is a close out item, they can. you might have better luck with a a mom-and-pop computer store.

You'll have a better chance bargaining at a non-chain store. Any independent retailers where you live? (Your profile says Corpus, in which case--good luck!)

Just find a deal from ATHD or FW or SD. You can get a gaming laptop plus your other laptop for a very good price w/o the hassle of trying to get a "deal".

Then plan on spending around $1700-$2100 or so.

As mb said, if you were buying a bunch of laptops for a school or something you might get a deal, but not for two laptops. At least not in any of the big name businesses.

Yea, pretty much what I said to my mom.

Doesn't hurt to ask, just makes me look stupid.

Inform your mother than computers typically have very low margins and the best way to get a deal is to buy online.

Usually you have to buy many more than 2, and of a simular configuration to get any sort of discount.
