As Bill Hicks says most of the music we all listen to was written on and/or influenced by at least pot and is a lot of cases much 'harder' drugs.

Nothing clenses the doors of perception like drugs. :)

I think Linkin Park was also quoted as saying something like "we dont do any druge or alcohol when touring."

Someone once said, don't remember the exact name that you HAVE TO be on drugs if you perform in front of a 50'000+ fans.

am I right if I'm saying that some of the greatest songs in music history evolved from people who did drugs? (while writing those songs of course)

Exactly, I don't think anyone would have been able to write what Pink Floyd has done sober. Do you think Steely Dan does drugs?

No idea, I'm not into that kinda music actually, but I do like the classics from Led Zepplin, etc. :)

Yea, Portnoy had a little achohol problem, IIRC, but he's recovered from that. Other than that, these guys are pretty clean, from what I know :)
Some of their songs sound like they must have been on somthing when they came up with them....but...I'm pretty sure they're clean.

scott stapp from Creed admittedly smokes up, and i believed he mentioned that friends (bandmates?) got him to do so. unfortunately, creed hasn't done enough drugs to inhibit their ability to put out the most contrived and annoying rock songs made in recent history.

the guys from tool, as maynard has said, basically take drug X once, and then later (while not high) try to duplicate the feeling via music .

guys from glassjaw are straight-edgers.

Here's a question... is a musician who takes mind altering drugs to perform any different than an olympic athlete who takes steroids or does blood doping?

Personally, I always favour natural performance... heck I don't even take any drugs when I am sick! I am just a very au naturale type of person...

Are there any good lawyers, judges, politicians, scientists, teachers, policemen, doctors, etc, that don't do drugs? [/sarcasm]
