Are there any add-in sound cards that encode 5.1 on the fly?

I know that nVidia's nForce2 chipset (with the MCP-T or whatever sound controller) will do that, but I was wondering if there were any add-in solutions that would accomplish the same thing. For my next Shuttle system, I want an Intel, but I also want it hooked up to my receiver to do 5.1 for as much as possible.

nvidia is supposed to be releasing a discrete version of the soundstorm, but who knows how long that will take to get to market
