<< I don't think God would hang with Adam and Noah as much as he did if he wasn't making a religion. With the very first rule (don't eat the apple) he made a religion. With the first punishment (get outta' here and get pregnant and grow crops) he acted on the promise of the first rule. >>
In the beginning (roughly Adam to a little before Noah and then from the flood to a little after Noah) there wasn't a need for "the Jewish religion" because everyone knew there was a G-d (one G-d) and they basically followed their human morals. It was once humans turned away from their morals and started worshipping idols that G-d had to step in and choose a people (the Jews) to carry on with his morals and ideals and stuff...gee this is hard to write. I'm not a Rabbi, this is just from what I think I've learned.
<< He drowned everyone for being bad, and made a promise to everyone that he would not drown everyone again.
When you have promises and punishments that effect everyone through the ages you have religion. I believe there was sacrifices too. Didn't the first murder happen because God was ticked off at the offering? Didn't Noah sacrfice an animal or two?
Since this is in the Bible, doesn't that make it part of a religion? If this isn't the Jewish religion, then what is it? >>
Again, just because G-d talks to people it doesn't mean it is a religion. Like I said above, there wouldn't have been a need for a religion or religions if everyone had continued to believe in one G-d and not start worshipping idols. Also, the Bible recounts history from day 1 so we know what happened, not so Judaism can be associated with everything in the world. <--I'm tired. I don't even know what I just wrote.
<< Sarah <== not Jewish, but thinks she is chosen >>
No offence, but I don't understand why you want to be chosen. It just means you have about a hundred times more laws to follow and you have to be an example for the rest of the world. It also means that most of the world has to hate you and try to kill you left and right. I'd never give up being Jewish for a moment and I never regret being Jewish for one second, but come on, only having 7 laws to follow is just so awesome. Like, where's the catch??? I don't understand why more people don't realize and appreciate this. I don't want to offend anyone and I hope I haven't, but it is hard to say want I want to say only though typed words and not through spoken words. Good night. (I have an exam at 10:10am
