Are the forums slow for everyone - or just me?

T1 line, other sites seem fine. Just wondering.

To be more specific, I was having inconsistent connections to the forums (DNS issues), and when it finally would connect, then it would time out. I did not consider the time to be 'peak hours', just what that means, I don't know - since we cover so many time zones, and so many days of the week. What would be considered as such? Any time other than 2AM? Anyhow, I felt that this question wasn't completely addressed in the top thread, so that's why I enquired. Sounds like at least one other person who looked at my thread agrees. And based on the VERY few people who post to this forum, I suspect that very MANY people are experiencing this (or had experienced it if it was temporary). Sorry I wasn't as definative in the beginning.... :)

Could you please at least make a small effort to see if this problem has been addressed? If you had, you would have seen this, the top thread in the forum.
Whoa there, that message was posted in *April*. Maybe he suddenly had forum slowdown but was otherwise fine (or relatively fine) before? For most of this afternoon I couldn't get the DNS to resolve consistently for 'anandtech.com' and a few other sites but that seems to have been taken care of.

Just the same Anand/Zuni have asked that threads relating to speed issues be ommitted from this forum. To answer your question however, no, the forums are just a fast for me as they normally are (I subscribe).

forums are slow because bandwidth is capped and more people are joining the forums each day. no one is forced to subscribe. u want the pages to load up faster? then log in around 2 am.

They are bandwidth restricted to keep Anadtech from spending all their profits on their connection.

Man, the forums are PAINFULLY slow! It's like I'm back on a 2400 bps dialup! Aren't forums one of the best things that attracts visitors here? If forums are barely usable, won't Anand get less banner/ad revenue, etc?

I have to wait for 10 seconds or so for a 3-post thread to finish downloading. It's extremely frustrating. And I'm sorry, but I am not going to pay $30 a year for this, if just about everyone else has this service for free...

How abouts 50% more bandwidth for everyone?

I've just read http://www.anandtech.com/subscriptions.html and if I were a more regular member on Anandtech, I would not hesitate to pay the AU$60. I think it is a great idea, and allows the members of a forum to give back to the forum owners (Zuni?), instead of complaining about something you already get for free.

If you dont like the speed of the FREE Forums, you can always leave and get your refund at reception ;)

Face it people, bandwidth costs money... ad revenue isn't working out for website owners...

way too many users + too little of a pipe = oh crap, we got a problem

Subscribe if you don't like it, either that or find another place to call your home!
