Are the fill and bleed systems any good?

Hey. Im new to water cooling. I was looking at the Swiftech fill-and-bleed kit and the Bay-Res Revision2 Reservoir. Are these systems any good? Is a standard reservoir better?

And which of the 2 is best?

thx in advance

Saying which one is better is really hard with water cooling because so much depends on how you install stuff and how you have your case configured. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful but I honestly don't think anyone can definitively say which is better.

Maybe you could provide examples of when one would be better over the other?

let me kinda narrow the field down.

My intention is to build this system. Swiftech waterblock, vga block and chipset block. Maybe hard drive cooler, but Im not sure on that yet. Im getting the Swiftech blah blah blah 600 pump and the HW Labs Black Ice Pro 2 radiator. So everything will 1/2" barbs. The radiator will be inside my case on the ceiling with the 120mm fans blowing up through. And I would like to put the fill and bleed in my lowest 5 1/2 bay.

I realize there are probably a hundred problems with this system, but I dont have the parts all here yet, so havent been able to work the bugs out.

So would the fill and bleed do alright like that? And do they allow the case to be moved ie LAN party?

thx again

By fill and bleed you are just talking about a resevoir with valves or whatever to fill of bleed the system, right? If so you should be able to take it to LAN's though that will depend somewhat on how well you install it. Keep in mind though, with all the water cooling equipment in there, your case will be pretty heavy.

If you are wondering about the water preasure and whether the resevoir below the radiator will be a problem, it won't. I've used an in-line config (no resevoir) in all my systems and having the filler tube below the rest of the system has never been a problem. Just make sure the tubes leading out from the resevoir dip down a little below it before going up.

Thats a good radiator you're getting there and I like the your idea for setting it up, its something I've been thinking about myself actually. You could even make a duct type thing to pull air into the radiator from the front of the case (since you'll most likely be using 1 or 2 of the 5.25 inch bays for the radiator/fans).

actually Ive already got the duct partially made. I took two 80mm fan grills and installed them in the top two 5.25 bays. So Ill have the cold air duct right up to the radiator.

Thx for thoughts as well. I dont mind my system being heavy, as long as I dont have to test it for hours every time I move it.

I persoanlly like a resevoir. Ive used a cylinder res that goes outside your case and a base res, and it makes getting the air out of the case a whole lot easier without having to get a bucket near your case as you may need with a t-fitting. But those who use t- fittings have done it so much that its no problem to them. So its bascially up to you. both setups will allow you to bring your comp to lanparties but its gonna be one heavy sucker. I can only image that your goin to be using a monster of a case to put everything in, and its gonna almost twice that of a steel case because im watercooling an aluminium cooler master case and it weights the same as a antec tower case i have.
