Are the compact SUV's considered girl cars? Guys would you drive one?

I'd take either the subaru or the toyota.
I own a subaru and I've driven a rav4 for a few months.
Both nice cars.

My wife and I own a Ford Escape and I enjoy driving it. Of course I've also owned a CRX and a Jetta both of which I've heard referred to as girly, but fortunately I came equipped with a spine so I'm not too concerned with what strangers will infer about my masculinity when I drive by.

I guess its not as much about what others think as what I think. Cause I would have no problems driving a CRV or Jetta either, or an escape.

I just originally though the RAV4 looked girly, the CRV as well. After getting better pics and finally seeing a CRV in person, I now think it looks nice, and would have no problems driving it. I would still have to see it in person, but as I said earlier, now that I have seen a RAV4 in a color other then purple, burgendy or green, I can safely say it looks good.

The forester I have heard referred to as a wagon, and its hard to tell fromt he pics, and I have never looked at one closely in person. But if it has the same proportions and ride heighth of the others, then I don't think it will be a problem.

Of the ones listed, probably the Subaru, but I think I like the Ford Escape better than all of those.

Why so, I don't see it like that. Just wodnering your opinion, as I said I will choose by what I like, just wonder what others think.

The escape is probablly out of my price range, and although they have made leaps, domestics still have reliability issues. I wouldn't midn the subaru, but as I said earlier, the first couple years have several issues according to CR.

Go just little bit bigger and consider the Toyota Highlander. Small enough to be practical. Big enough to satisfy.

I'd drive any of the Honda, Toyota or Subaru variants...

Bigger and newer equals more expensive, so thats a no go.

Thebaconcheddarranch, what leads you to believe the subaru is more fuel efficient then the rav4 or CRV. Edmunds say 21/26 for an auto subaru, 22/27 for an auto of the other 2.

if i was going to drive a small suv i would get a jeep wrangler...you should add that to the poll...considering its been around longer than all your other choices

Except its already been discussed a couple times. Its too small, Granted its an SUV, but its not a normal SUV. They have very limited cargo area, the rear seats are cramped and the soft tops are noisy.

And again the Liberty is outside my price range.

Its evening out. I'm sure I can't really go wrong with any of the top 3 picks. I just want to make a good decision. I suppose I need to get out and start test driving and seeing these things.

all of those are pretty girly... especially the RAV4. i like toyotas but really wouldnt be caught dead in a RAV. if you are willing to drive something a little bigger i would highly recommend the jeep grand cherokee or a toyota 4runner. both are very reliable (which is really important since you are buying a used car).

I don't really know, so don't think I am disagreeing with you, but according to CR, the Jeep grand cherokee is a reliability nightmare, not a single year from '97-'04 got a good reliability verdict from them.

ANd as discussed earlier, the lesser gas mileage of the 4runner would kills it benefits for me. If I was gonna go bigger I would likely go pathfinder, but again I am looking to go cheap here, so gas mileage is kinda important.
