Are the Asus P4PE IDE channels ATA100/133?

I have just the plain jane version of the p4pe, not the p4pe/R/L/F/SATA.

My question is, do the two IDE channels on the plain version support ATA100/133? .

If I were to get a WD 120GB (SE version) ATA100 HD would I get ATA100 throughput from the onboard IDE channels on this plain jane model? Or should I buy a PCI ATA133 controller card to run that type of HD? Asus's site seems a little unclear. I'm not sure by reading the specs if Ultra ATA133 only comes with the model with the RAID support, or if the plain jane version comes with ATA100/133 support as well, just not the RAID support. Does that make sense?

Thanks for helping to clarify if you can...

The IDE 1 and 2 ports are ATA100. If you had the raid as mine does, the RAID port is ATA133.

In reading the asus manual about the raid port. Am I reading it correctly that you could connect one hdd set at master as an additional ide drive making the total possible 5?

Thanks

You can run 120G in ata100, since the limit is around 137G.
But if you want to add another big drive, you have to get an ata133 card.

That's waht I thought the manual said as well. I am considering moving my primary HDD ATA133 to the RAID connector set as a master and see if it will boot up. That would allow me to run another HDD on the primary IDE I could use for video capture, etc. Will this work?

Yeah guys/girls this board says that it does raid but the only small problem with that is the fact that the Promise Ata/ Raid controller on board only allows you to hook the following.

1 Serial ATA drive and 1 Parallel ATA drive= RAID 0

2 Serial ATA drives = Raid 0

or

1 Parallel drive at Master and 1 Parallel Drive at slave= Raid 1 "YOU CANT HAVE A MASTER AND A SLAVE AND GET RAID 0"

2 Serial ATA drives = Raid 1

But Keep this in mind

I have both of these drives hooked up In raid and one is on the Pri. IDE and the other is on the Sec. IDE.

It is possible ask me if you want to do it.

ATA133 has no performance improvement over ATA100 anyway. The WD 120JB has a max STR of ~ 50 MB/sec, which isn't even saturating ATA66.

I just ordered the ASUS P4PE/L/R MB and intend to set up my two WD 100GB Special addition HDDs using RAID 0 configuration.

However, after reading the manual it didn't loook like this was possible. It says specifically that both drives must be set to Master but the board only had one RAID IDE port.

I didn't think that you could have two master drives on the same channel.

Are you really running RAID 0 using this board? How did you do it?
