Are Tagan power supplies any good?

I just ordered a TG1100-U95 from newegg for $259. Seems like an awesome deal. They also have the 900W (Tagan TG900) listed twice...once for $199 and again for $349!?!? They are both new retail units. I wonder what that's all about. I was about to order the 900W brick until I spotted the 1100W guy for $$. I've heard some good things about Tagan's but what do you guys think?

Sometimes my system will shut down for no apparent reason....well when trying to squeeze a bit more out of the X1900's anyway. It's a great supply but I think I'm at it's limit. 42A continuous is decent but 80A is better. :D If I just overclock the X1900's with overdrive they're fine but I like to play around with them a little more. Going past 1.45vgpu on the cards results in an immediate shutdown when a 3D program is started.(actually about 3 to 5 seconds into it. 1.45v @ 725MHz/1640MHz is fine and I've tested both cards individually at around 775MHz @ 1.55v.

Just trying to break 12k in 06'
I'm @ 11,800 HQ 725/820

I read a few reviews and the 1100W Tagan is sounding even better.

Why would I want a 600W zippy? I don't think it would give me anymore amps than the one I've already got. I don't think 1100W is a waste. I gonna add a couple more hard drives and maybe a pair of R600's next year.

PC Power and Cooling are nice supplies too but for $260 I don't think you can beat the Tagan TG1100.

Thermaltakes are ok.

OCZ PSUs are pretty much Tagan PSUs with the OCZ sticker. Not sure how good Tagan is but 1100W for 259 sounds good enough.

But most importantly, how many amps does it have on the 12V rail. (is it dual rail etc?)

Tagan rates it @ 80 Amps continuous for all 4 rails combined! They are each 20A. The 900W supply also has 4 12V rails @ 20A each but it can only put out 72A continuous(umm..only, lol)

Anyway for $259 it sounds awesome. Just what I need for some G80 SLI or R600CF goodness. :)

@ LOUISSSSS....I will have to side with you on the Thermaltake =

If a 600W zippy does not power your rig I'll shoot you. =)

80 amps is worthless as you cannot get the power off each rail due to the rail distribution and limiters. Its huge size is limiting. FOr $260 it's ok however Tagan is not that great. Some things are ok such as the OCZ 520ADJSLI. Jonnyguru said it's the Best PSU Topower has ever built. Topower is the OEM for Tagan. For $259 it's still a waste. You only need so much power. Having 45 amps overkill is a waste. And no you won't be drawing more than 40 amps overclocked with your current Rig. ARe you really planning on R600 Crossfire???

Thermaltake is Ok btw. Their older power supplies are horrible however The new 750W modular is perfectly fine. In fact it's great. CWT with Good caps>FSP Epsilon/GameXstream.

Tagan and epower (same thing) is good. Popular in europe, toms reviews them all the time. They are built by topower PSU company same as OCZ and many many others.

I think seasonic is best but they don't make super high power.. they make one for Corsair a 620W which should handle xfire pretty easy 18A to mobo, 18A to card#1, 18A to #2.

Seasonic is not the best. Topower is ok but it depends. From what I've heard it's very variable with their builds. Some are great and some are crap. Kinda like thermaltake with the different oems.

Do you even know how much power HDDs draw? Look it up... it's nothing out of a 600W supply. Also, if R600s require 400W apiece, .... I don't know what to say, they'd have to come with a car radiator and watercooling. It's a waste, total waste.

Have you made sure that your two cards are on separate rails?? I have the same PSU as you (600W Enhance 0560G) and it runs my system perfectly. I had to buy a sata to 4-pin molex adaptor (yes they do make them) but other than that the PSU has been flawless. Plenty of power.
