Apparently just a little smarter than the Republicans that got a failed businessman elected twice

Might want to re-think that. If they got a failed businessman elected twice, wouldn't that make them smarter?

The OP's title should single out one party or the other. It should read, Are politicians really this stupid. As all sides of the isles are full with incompitent morons.

Republicans are assholes. They don't give a shit about fiscal responsibility or looking and acting like pigs themselves. They know that if you tell a big lie and tell it often enough, the folk who vote will believe it. These folk are filth and scum but it doesn't bother them. They want power and they will do anything to get it. A vote for a Republican is a vote for cancer.

Plane ticket would be more expensive, sure, but everything else...debatable. Hotels give cut rates for conventions, catering does too, etc. Again, I live in a town that is specifically geared for conventions and I can assure you that if in fact you were to go somewhere else it wouldn't be any cheaper and attendance would suffer as well.

Stop thinking like a tourist and think like a conventioneer.

LOL. Ok, I'll make sure the next time we have a convention for work, I'll push Hawaii instead of Providence RI, per your stellar logic and astute reasoning.

Yes, Hawaii is accessible by only the most expensive forms of transportation.. so naturally, everything there that's not made there will be quite a bit more expensive than it would be in the rest of the states.

But back to the original point, yes, Republicans are quite stupid. So are Democrats. Long term, I'm betting on the Libertarians.

So Hawaii is not accessible by cargo ships?

Staying at a premium luxury resort (requiring very high cost transportation no less) just screams "fiscal responsibility". And nobody in the segment got it.

I found it funny and sad at the same time.

If your company is flying people in from every state and terrority (such as DC, Puerto Rico and Guam) they might as well go to HI.

Sure it is, but that doesn't mean it's an inexpensive form of transportation for the scale involved.

So bringing in products by cargo ship for the 1 million people living in Honolulu isn't cost effective? That "scale" is plenty big enough.

As I said above, because of the downturn in tourism, HI is said to now be cheaper (hotels/conventions) than places in the US such as Washington DC.

I can see how it's bad "optics", but trying to argue it's anything more than that is silly. Look, if the RNC went to Vegas we'd hear dumb remarks from partisans about the "Family Values Party" going there to gamble and visit hookers.

Again, "fiscal responsibility" is irrelevent when you're spending your own money (vs. taxpayer money) and aren't going into debt and asking for a bailout.

They don't have any of my money (donation or taxpayer funds), so I don't care what they spend it on.

Many Republicans are just cluess about their own hypocrisy on this sort of thing.

They'll mock Bill Clinton for his stylist's haircut (while not knowig whether he was even charged, and parroting lies about all the planes he held up to get it), but not much a word when Palin blows big party money on her clothes on expense account. They'll blast Al Gore for having a big house or flying private jets because he advocates better policies while not holding their own to any standards on the personal behavior or the policies. They'll throw around the propaganda term 'limusine liberal' designed to hide their own party's support for elites, but not get why GOP riding in a submarine in Hawaii is notable.

Basically, their own poop smells sweet. THey'd like point across the resturant at a Democrat for his 'elitism' for eating the same steak they are.

The only thing partisans of both sides care about is their party. That partisan zeal will cause them to justify the most ridiculous of ideological disconnects, and on a daily basis. Call a partisan on it, and they will just label you a member of the other side.

Are Democrat's [sic] stupid enough to not understand the difference between plurals and possessives?

Yeah, yeah, I'm a grammar Nazi. But when a person uses incorrect grammar in a sentence in which they call others stupid, they invalidate their argument immediately.

A vote for a Republican is a vote for cancer.

So if you had your way you would want 100 democrats in the senate and 435 democrats in the house so they could ram through all the vast big government legislation they want all day long, completely unchecked?

I understand why you come off as fucking insane, moonbatshitcrazybeam

Not compared to cargo ships for the mainland US.

As I said above, because of the downturn in tourism, HI is said to now be cheaper (hotels/conventions) than places in the US such as Washington DC.

That's all stuff they have there. I'm talking about consumable goods.

actually, stupid is not knowing how you lost an election in Massachusetts to a virtually unknown candidate that was a virtual 'lock' a month before election day....their puzzled and confused 'deer in headlight' looks that night was priceless...That was STUPID.

I wonder if they have even figured out why the lost yet...

Yeah, the stupid D's won the war, but lost a skirmish after the fact. That was kind of stupid of them, but how stupid are the R's for losing the war?

I mean GWB had a chance mot to just be a good president buitto be one of our great presidents and pissed everything down his leg, but his diehard supporters latch onto one loss and say "hahah, I told you so".

Maybe the D's are dumb, but the R's seem to be pathetic "at this juncture".
