Are Razer mice still cutting edge for games?

I have a Razer lachesis and it's showing it's age. Feet are almost gone and now the I can't depress the middle mouse wheel or it won't work. I can't stab people in BC2 and it's very frustrating browsing.. can't do new tabs etc

So I need a new mouse. I'm still not in love with the wired thing that razer gives you, I used to have a MX1000 wireless Microsoft Mouse, I really liked that one.

Any recommendations? My budget should be about a hundred bucks or less.

I'm still rocking my ancient MX518. Wires are coming loose inside it, so I'm gonna have to replace it soon too. Wonder if you can still get them new.

G500 here, great mouse. I did break one by slamming it when raging during CS:S. On my second one currently.

I have both a Razer Abyssus and a Razer DeathAdder and I like them both a lot. I got the Abyssus for $30 and the DeathAdder for $45.

The top shelf of gaming mice is supposed to be the SteelSeries Sensei...but they're pretty pricey. More than I'd want to spend.

I have the Steelseries Sensei and have nothing but great things to say about it.

I love the G700. Wireless if you want, but I used mine with the chord attached.

That's what I do as well. I don't know if people understand based on what you're saying, but the G700 actually uses the cord to send data if it's connected. It isn't just a charging cable.

Razer were never cutting edge IMO, all gimmicks and form over function.

Logitech were and still are the best. G9x is great for claw grippers.

I've been using Razers for a long time and see no reason to change now. For one thing they are so much better that they do last longer. And they are so comfortable I dont want to change them out.

I love my original microsoft sidewinder mouse (it's wired). First one lasted just short of three years before it started double clicking randomly on single clicks. Second one microsoft sent me without needing me to ship the old one back is still going strong a year and a half later. Fits the palm of my hand perfectly/thumb buttons perfectly positioned is the main reason I like it so much though so I'm guess it's a rather personal like.

Mine has survived build after build and works flawlessly. I kinda want a new one because sometimes I have to re plug it in after my computer wakes up from sleep. But I hate spending money on something that isn't broken.

My last two mice have been the MX518 and I thought they were still being sold, but looked and apparently they're not except for third parties trying to price gouge and a few reasonably priced ones on eBay.

Untrue, the deathadder was and still is the best mouse. Any mouse that is laser is bad. Optical mice FTW.

I have the Razer Mamba 2012, and would trade it back for my Logitch G700 in a heartbeat if I could. Paired it with a Blackwidow Ultimate keyboard... last time I buy anything Razer.

Razer has decent hardware, but there are just too many little things that just don't work they way they should. The worst are 'ghost clicks' in which nothing happens, but you know you clicked the button (rare-ish, but happens). Then there is the PC coming out of sleep issue, which often requires the mouse the be physically removed and re-plugged in to an USB port to work. The software which literally takes 30 seconds to load, and 10 seconds per bind change (tottally unacceptable).

Biggest gripe though - proprietary battery packs (wireless mouse). Lucky to get 3/4 of a day of hard gaming before it dies, and then gotta plug it in. I'm not paying $40 for another battery pack; Logitech's G700 uses regular AA batteries, and if you run rechargeables you know how great that is.

I used to roll my eyes and think that gaming mice were a fad (to some extent, I still think that) but upon picking up my Razer Death Adder, it completely changed my mind. While I wish there were a few more buttons, I find the mouse amazing.

I'm still using an old Microsoft Habu. Made by Razer but long since EOL'd. It still works and I don't need 100k dpi or whatever they're all up to now. But if this one kicks the bucket, i'll probably pick up a deathadder or imperator. I always like the Razer mice better than the logitech, more comfortable in the hand IMO.

Been using the Razor Diamondback for a couple years now. If it goes out I would get another Razor.

I can totally understand it's not for everybody. My hands are small and Razor just seems to have somebody like me in mind. The size, weight, and style just suites me perfectly. When it comes to ergonomics what is suitable for one person might not be suitable for another.

In order of preference: Razer > Logitech > Microsoft
