Some of the threads on this forums do not seems to indicate that the RAM sinks are necessary. Personally, when I use the HyperX PC 3000 512MB at 2.6V, 161FSB, it heat up pretty good. However, with Kingston 512MB PC2700, 2.7V, 165FSB, it barely warm at the touch. I wonder if my HyperX is bad? Can two sticks of RAM be bad at the same time? When I say heat up I mean pretty hot like my CPU.

I remember seeing some extensive tests done on ram sinks and the conclusion was that they only ran 1 degree cooler than without.
