I did a quick search and didn't find a topic similar to this. In any case, this idea came from this thread.

If you do not believe time travel will ever be possible, do you think that certain people can look into the future and make prophecies? (e.g., seers) And I don't mean look into the future via current data -- e.g., what analysts or economists do...

I only pose this question because there are a small minority of people (not myself) who believe that everything is predisposed -- that we're all driven by fate... What if that were true and the people who have "harnessed" this are able to see into the future?

People also thought that illnessess were the work of spirits and natural occurances like lightening were due to the gods. What's your point?

That what we know now, or what we dismiss now, may prove to be shrewd and that other avenues should be explored (not just the norm).
